It will go down as the worst decision ever made to punt Pearce for Cronk.

No one knows how to play Cronk ball. Cordner looks totally lost. Keary doesn't know where he should be running and what to do. Mitchell never gets early ball. Tedesco doesn't know what to do but at SOO level Tedesco and Pearce clicked after what 1 game?

Gordon last year was untouched scoring some of his tries from set plays..surely Tedesco a player 10 years younger would be able to do the same. But, that's not how you play Cronk ball.

The team knew how to play Mitch Pearce football but even after 9 games they still have no idea how to play Cronk ball.

This is not happening in 2018. By the time the second receiver gets the ball the defence are on top of him. This is the case 9 times out of 10. In my opinion most of the reason the outside backs aren’t getting the ball.
I am not bagging Cronk, but he is not as quick as our former half back. At Melbourne he had a dummy half that would draw the markers and it wasn’t an issue. For things to improve changes have to be made. I don’t know what the answer is because so far this year the coach hasn’t addressed this issue and is hesitant to admit there is a problem there.
Pearce was not and never was the issue - were their complaints about Friendly last year no - Cronk stands too deep in attack and one has to say has slow legs as well -he is 35 ish and is being targeted in defence as a result too- had a very poor game last up against Manly as well - Better for him to have retired one has to say than play on- Thurston is really struggling too on old legs.

Chooks needed another front rower and centre at least - they had over a million cap space to chase quality players in these positions but didn't - They sign Tedesco thinking Gordon would retire and then re-sign him as they knew depth in the backs was short or really non existent as again a backrower has to fill in.

It will be some effort for the Chooks to win tomorrow and one has to honestly say make the 8 too - too much spent on two players in Cronk and Tedesco who are not delivering for the pay packet they are earning - number 1 and 2 highest paid players.

As I said on other posts Keary looks intimidated by Cronk - doesn't know his role anymore - Pearce and Keary combo worked from day one- Cronk and Keary combo isn't working at all - Chooks needed to sign another prop and centre instead- Cronk was better off retiring one has to say- old legs are catching up on his fast as they are for Thurston - one season too long for both.

Many have complained about Friends service and brain snaps for years, including you, do we need another big bopper yes we do, have we the cash to get one, yes we do, the only failure was not signing a big bopper, not the Pearce for Cronk swap

The only thing that will keep Cooper Cronk out of the conversation with Fatty Vautin is at least the Melbourne Lemon gave it a go and didn't dog it. He's definitely our worst signing since Chris Walker.

Punting Maloney for Hastings takes the gold medal for worst decision ever made.

Without a doubt. Pearce and Maloney complimented each other better than Pearce and Carney ever did as both of their key strengths offset the other ones weakness plus Maloney was a very reliable goal kicker especially when the pressure was on. We should still have these guys as our halves pairing. Jimmy is only 30 or 31 isn't he? He was punted for the 2016 season so consider that right now he would have been in to the third year of his four year deal that he wanted while in his prime which means we still could have had the ability to sign Nathan Cleary in 2020 when the time was right to move him on.

Keary has been good for us but he is still a downgrade on Maloney as a player and doesn't offer a goal kicking option and look where is Hastings at; outcast at his third club in a row and now we've gone out and bought an ageing, past his best Cronk in a desperate attempt to claw on to the possibility of this current era still producing the goods.

The recruitment decision from this one deal had a knock on effect that farked every chance of us sustaining success in the long term. At this point I think we need a mass recruitment strategy similar to the way we built up to 2013 during the couple of years prior to that cutting out deadwood and strategically signing key players all in one year.

The thing that makes this decision the worst is that you don't even need hindsight to see it was terrible almost nobody agreed with this move at the time it just gets worse as the years go on.

If he was an elite player I could almost forgive the gross character flaws. But as he was a good first grade player, nothing more, his gross behavior was unforgivable.

                        lmao

Mitchell Pearce ball is just passing to the superior player outside of you and get out of the way.

At least with Cronk, I dont get nervous when we are 10 in front with 10 to go.

I’ve said many times that one of our worst player losses in recent memory was Jimmy. People can think what they want of Pearce but some players are brilliant individual players where as others are better in a combination and Pearce with Maloney was brilliant.

To be fair, Jimmy is probably in career best form. He's playing with more purpose than he did with us, when he wasn't a SOO certainty. That mightn't have happened if he hadn't moved on. Maybe he's a player who likes new challenges.

Anyway, no point in crying over spilt milk?
