He was put on the field right before they had all those sets on our line, he only got 15min playing time and 10 minutes of those he was defending.
He didnt run at all so how could you say he was slower then Jake Friend?
If his running is such a vital part of a game. Why did Jake only have 1 run in 60 minutes?
His service was way better then Friend's this guy can throw a pass to his left AND right and it actually lands in the hands without the receiver having to stop his run or jump for the ball
Nobody is hyping Baptiste to be our savior. But we need somebody who can do the ****ing basics of the Hooker role correctly and he's that guy
He should get more minutes, hard to show anything in attack when youre defending for 10/15 minutes

I wasnt using the defending as an excuse for him, all I was saying was: how can you criticize a bloke for doing nothing in attack when all he was doing was defending?
Did you expect him to rack up a Cameron Smith performance? LMFAO

That being said, I think it’s time for the tap on the shoulder...
A few few years ago I thought he was at his peak. He went through a period where his defense was good (as it always is), his little kicks were coming off more often than not, and he looked creative out of dummy-half. At this point I, like others, saw him as a successor to Cam Smith in the Qld Origin arena.
Since then I believe his game has deteriorated.
He’ll still do the 60 tackles per game, but his service is slow and he often does a few forward passes each game (some of which get called), and a few that go behind the player that they have to reach back for.
His kicking game is far more rocks than diamonds, and he offers nothing in individual attack. This makes it a lot easier for the opposition defense around the ruck who can concentrate on stopping our go forward up the middle without worrying about a scoot from dummy half.
He also seems to be more prone to brain fades and poor decision-making, probably due to his workload.
I’ve also noticed his impact in tackles is now minimal and he seems now to struggle to bring down players one-on-one (even backs).
I also believe that this has been going on too long now to be a “slump”.
What complicates the situation is on is his contribution to the club as a captain and long-serving premiership-winning player, the redemption story, loyalty, alleged popularity with the players, nice guy, etc, etc...
I would love nothing better than to be proved wrong, and I think every true, loyal Roosters supporter wishes him to play well every time he runs out....
But....I think the writing is on the wall, and I think it’s actually been there now for a while...
Keary is way out of form compared to last year and needs to just run the ball and not be some sort of second organiser because Cronk isn't doing his job he is paid to do which he needs to start doing - On a mill a year and not producing at all.
Wake up and stop blaming Friend - It's a joke that this continues - Cronk and Tedesco are delivering squat and about time if you are to bag players start blaming them plus Keary/ Cords as well for an example- all 4 well below NRL form required so far after 9 rounds.Last edited by King Salvo; 05-08-2018, 03:13 AM.

If say - Cords/Fergo/Latrell/Tedesco/Napa make origin they will not be able to fill these positions going forward if they are unavailable for any of the NRL games as a result. - lack of depth will do them in as too much spent on too few players.
Cannot see them beating the Warriors or Bronco's in the next two games for instance the way they are playing - no suggestion at all yesterday that they have turned the corner or improved their game at all - Manly were understrength with 6 or so out - Chooks had one out in Toops and only won by 2.

Friend is killing everything. He is not a hooker, he can't even pass the ball. He runs down a blindside solo on last tackle and gets tackled while the million dollar back-line gets ignored.
He throws lollypop passes and he is too slow. If he just did the opposite to everything that comes into his head we would be leading the comp.

mmm be leading the comp how ??- Cronk's job is to organise the attack and why he is on 1 million to do so and Tedesco on 800k doing nothing that Gordo could not do and in fact Gordo shows he is a better player.
Keary is way down on form not knowing what his role is anymore - the big signings of Cronk and Tedesco hasn't worked and all should see this by now even 9 rounds in. All the talk of changed attack and working on this during the 11 day break resulted in nothing different.
A very scratchy 2 point win against a club in turmoil with 6 regular players out too - you cannot ever say the chooks performance is down to one player though - 17 players make up the team and 17 players are not on the same page or contributing as individuals or as a team that is required - Coach Robbo and staff also - 9 rounds should be more than enough to know what the issues are but none have been addressed.Last edited by King Salvo; 05-08-2018, 03:11 AM.

Won't hold my breath though as they are their two golden boys - the so called messiah's who will in their minds deliver a premiership in 2018. Rather think they over estimated this one has to say and the first 9 rounds clearly shows it.

If we are going to use the Friend /Baptiste hooking combination why not pull Jake off after 30 and put him back on 15 minutes into the 2nd half. Once again Robbo mismanaged his use of the bench by playing Jake for 60 minutes straight and he was blowing bubbles then he put him on with 4 minutes to go, its poor use of an interchange
