  • Ramblings from last night with a sleep to process and calm down

Reece Robinson. Give him a week to decide lack of confidence vs confirmedreserve grader. 2nd try from bomb had no blocker. Then we blocked And penalty. ffs. When Toupou plays they allow him to be blocked all game

manu. Needs more ball. Warriors ran boppers at him. Should be used as attacking weapon otherwise still small

latrell tried hard. No one backed up his break. Needs to be questioned why? Keary? Teddy? Cronk?

keary and Cronk quiet. We were beaten in the forwards. Hard to dominate

we allowed or their forwards dominated from 3rd minute. Faster, more energy, ran direct, faster service/more options from DH. Quicker PTB

    warriors deserved their win.

    but refs did no favours
warriors were offside most of the night. Why no bins?

why was boo put on report? Disgrace

why no use of bin for repeated penalties on warriors line?

    what needs to change yesterday
    1. friend. Don’t know the answer. Cant imagine him being part of the team fabric. Looks selfish. At very least, needs either Baptiste or boo with 30 mins at DH per game.
too many errors and stifled attack from poor passes and options. Passes at inside hip??? Who does that?
    2. Time for new prop to be added. Send a message. Reward Collins and tell him to go ballistic. Be what napa used to be. Drop Napa or tets..
    3. Robinson. 1 more week or shop him.

I would say that our little guy's Cronk and Keary were neutralised by the Warriors big boppas running full bore at them all night. On Friend well yeah we can all see it but Robbo i have no idea what his infatuation with Friend is all about. On the forwards we have known this since we let Moa go and the club didn't go after any props in the off season maybe they have expectations of the young up and comers I would give Faamausili a go yes he's young but has an enormous motor and won't die wondering if given the chance.

They beat us because we were perthetic and played our same boring plays. Eg fergo hitting it up on 2nd play. The cuzzy bros looked the goods. Tuff and played for each other

That was the big difference. You could see it every time they came up with a big play, they were back slapping and high fiving. They were really up for this game. In contrast I think the early try did us no favours. We had been hearing we were expected to win, then SJ drops out and we stroll over after 3 mins. Before we realised we were in a game they were ahead 12-4 and had all the momentum. They beat us in the effort areas, kick chase, defensive urgency, enthusiasm.
Interesting that when they gave away a heap of penalties on the line there was no mention of sin bins by the refs or the commentators. We do it and its a deliberate tactic and someone needs to be sent off. That wasn't the reason we lost obviously just an observation.

Forwards win games and we are low on forwards. JWH and Napa have been seperated to give us bench power which shouldn’t be the case and isn’t working. Taukeiaho and Tetevano are not the best props going round. Taukieaho was great as a mobile backrower and caused havoc on the edges but now he is being wasted in the middle where his mobility and ball skills are neutralized. He needs to drop some kgs and put back on the edges. We need forwards and need them fast otherwise we will waste the opportunity with our great spine.

All the reasons you have suggested on why we lost is why I put the blame on the Coach..
The lack of energy and being beaten in the effort areas is something that needs to be instilled in the team all week and prepped in time for the game on Saturday, sadly it looked totally opposite..
I blame the players for the dropped balls and silly penalties, but the lack of interest is on Robbo and his lack of influence on the team..

The pack is a worry imo SST is not a prop forward hes an impact player should be in the back row where he was before.Friend has to improve hes a tackling machine these days he offers little else to the pack.Matto is average he offers little imo JWH is well past his best footy and it shows.Napa is a lazy player except for when he pulls on a qld jumper then he turns into a machine.Funny most of the commentators said that the chooks Achilles heel this year could be the forwards and especially the friend cronk combination the way its going at the moment is not good you could see the frustration on cronks face at the back end of that forgettable performance yesterday.Might be time to blood a young forward.Who is the roosters forward coach? whoever it is needs to take off the blinkers cause we have seen this sort of crap twice now in 4 games from the pack and there are real problems its just not happening for us up front .

When Keary passes forward to Fergo then Friend passes forward to Keary AND then SST lets the ball pop out ‘behind’ him... then it was all going to be same from there. How can any one or any team build anything if simple passes and catches can’t be held onto? It’s not like the ball was any different for them? Which goes back to what some other brought up of what Gasnier said, our completion is the worse for years, and at the time of SSTs drop, it was already around 2 from 8. Go figure!

I can't agree with this observation at all, The reason our forwards were beaten were because of poor choices from Cronk, Keary & Friend. Between the 3 of them they must shoulder the large portion of the blame from last night's result because it was our tactics that affected us the most.

                  After completing our fist set our next 5 sets went (and I can't remember the exact order);

                  - Spread to the left edge, Luke Keary forward pass
                  - Spread to the left edge, Latrell Mitchell knock on
                  - Spread to the left edge, Jake Friend forward pass
                  - Spread to the left edge, Luke Keary knock on
                  - Spread to the left edge, Reece Robinson knock on

I think we then had to wait until the 28-29th minute of the game until we completed our next set.

All those spreads were early in the tackle count and well before we had established any sort of momentum or go forward. Our spine didn't allow our forwards to get into the grind, they were trying to play attacking footy from minute number 1 before they had earnt the right.

Our forwards didn't let the halves down it was the other way around. Sure in that second half our forwards started to come up with quite a few errors but you've got to factor in fatigue, we pretty much spent that whole first half defending.

Our spine bought into their own hype from last week and didn't get us into the grind of the game. Everything else was a by-product of that.

We played like we had money on the warriors. Awful game.

also surprised no warrior got binned when they gave up 5 penalties in 6min at the end of the first half. But when we couldn’t score with so many goes at them, it means a lot more work with our genius attacking coach JT.

Sure Robertson was useless and Friend is a snail but our forwards are pathetic.

Even Cords has been much less dominant but this year so far.

Matto is a bench forward at best and none of our guys have an offload in them. Every team we play seems to get second phase play through consistent offloads. We get zero offloads. No wonder Teddy is struggling playing with a bunch of forwards who can’t offload. This really limits his chances.

Totally agree with this, our forwards don’t offload which means they are too predictable when attacking the opposition line..
JWH had an offload or 2 last week and the whole team fed off it,whereas last night they had nothing.
Not sure how Matterson keeps getting a starting spot, then again it’s not surprising considering it’s Robbo’s selections..

Last night they had no possession to offload because we kept spreading it and making an error.

We were pinned on their line for a while before the half time break and offered nothing,we looked lost!

We certainly have more forward depth than we do in the backline.

Farmer Silly- good off the bench, won't die wondering.
Collins - Has size and some agro.
                              Butcher - workaholic.
Porter - young, but has ball skills.
Smith - dunno what happened to him, but looked good when he had a chance.
Baptiste - I know zero about him, but his dummy half service would have to be better than what we got.
FPN - forget I mentioned him.

I gotta admit that I missed the warriors game. I had a bad turn yesterday afternoon, and still feel a bit confused.
Maybe my set back was a blessing in diguise, and I dont feel up to watching a replay.
