I guess Joe Kelly knowing about it and not saying anything has made him complicit in this scenario.
Not sure where I sit on this, need to wait for more details to come out but sounds like Joe Kelly was really against it.
It's an interesting situation, and we'll probably never get the whole story.
I would imagine that if Kelly refused to approve the contract as presented to him, it would show him in a good light. The fact that a contract was signed off by Penn doesn't prove Kelly was complicit, he could claim he assumed it had been adjusted accordingly. Penn was his employer.
However , Rothfield indicated there was text messages that may have shown Kelly turned a blind eye to other dodgy deals, and apparently the way the Penns did business is why he quit.
Scott Penn seems to have escaped any punishment, and I thought Ikin and Kent were very lenient with Barrett.
Kent hit the nail on the head in the next segment when he said it's about time the players are held more accountable. The nrl does seem determined to treat the players like innocent little kids.
We know melbourne and berrie players signed two contracts.
And I don't wanna start on cameron smith.

I did hear that Ian Schubert may fill in for Kelly if and when he returns as CEO- Shoey would do a great job as he is already on the payroll as our salary cap compliance auditorLast edited by King Salvo; 03-27-2018, 12:36 AM.

The only thing Manly where guilty of was getting caught, we all know the third party things is a rort and abused by every club including us. I think Greenturd was just as guilty while he was at the dogs.
The Broncos got away without an investigation a few years ago because someone resigned.
Teams like Penrith, Parramatta & Canterbury have way more money than the rest of the Sydney clubs with the amount Bogans throw into the pokies. Not hard to hide funds there. Gee sponsor X or player X is lucky, he pulled a jackpot again.
I have no idea how you can make it fair $$$ wise. We are lucky to have so many high profile supporters and not rely on pokie money.

lackies
well qualified men who do the paper pushing for Nick
foorball management is a strange beast in my opinion. I’ve parlayed with a few of them. Can be a tough gig. Most are out of their depth. Look at big Lyall Gorman. Left the club a hero and a 500k bonus. Now the joint is 2.5m in debt after one year. Pisses off so he doesn’t have to mop up the mess.
Darren Mooney was the best I’ve seen. He is at Newcastle now. Switched on, knows footy. Good bloke. Straight talker. Love that. Poor bloke was unfairly smashed by asada.
‘I reckon he has helped Newcastle.
‘’Too many footy managers try to be corporates in my opinion. You don’t need a suit. You need a switched educated man who understands the unique intricacies of rugby league
barbarian ......arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!
