I don't blame Pearce for showing emotion, I can blame him for lot's of other stuff however. No doubt though the club knew a long way out that Pearce was not the player or person they had hoped him to be and had to cut him loose. As the highest paid player, he had to show both on and off the field that he was a leader and he could do neither. Why so many people do not get this, I will never know. Cronk will lead the players on and off the field. Pearce will lead them to the nearest bar.
I agree with this. And just to clarify, it's not an issue that he displayed emotion, it's that it seems to take over how he handles situations. Also, for him to feel blindsided, i'm sorry but that sort of feels like it's confirming he was coasting along and not feeling even some consequence for how the season turned out in the end. I mean....
I can’t believe the hate coming out of this place for a bloke who has played 200+ games for us
its crazy, the bloke gave everything on the field for this club, sure he was no superstar but he was not a shit player.
I keep hearing how how he never stood up in the preliminary final but THE WHOLE TEAM was ordinary.
Hes never been a halfback that carries the team, he’s been a half that compliments the players around him.
I hope ole were not expecting a premiership on the back of Cronk as I don’t think he is the player to deliver us one, not at this stage of his career. Let’s remember the caliber of players he has had around him in key roles throughout his whole career
I was was never a massive fan but I accepted the fact he was who he was, a good first grade halfback.
Cronk may bring a professional attitude to the club but let’s remember the core group have just seen one of there best mates virtually pushed out.
the benefit of Cronk may not been seen in 2 years but when Lam and O’sullivan Become regular first graders as there’s no doubt they will learn more from Cronk then they would Pearce.
Good luck Junior, thankyou for giving your all week in week out for our club

I for one am always sad when long term players leave under acrimonious circumstances. **** all you arseholes who are revelling in your schadenfreude. (Not directed at you Cockadoodledo, unless you are revelling in it)
I'll probably get flamed for this, but I am not convinced Cronk is he player most think he is. I genuinely believe he has benefited from playing besides a metal giant of the game, and a physical freak (Smith, Slater) for his entire career. Go to Origin and you add Thurston to that list, easily another elite player of the last generation. Move to playing halfback for Australia, and Chad Townsend could deliver the goods. Oh - and I guess I better mention Bellamy and the cheating front office.
I'm not even convinced he can lead at all without Smith. For all we know he may be a madman outside league, as if journo's care what happens to league players in Melbourne. I really hope he is the clean skin he appears to be.
One thing is for sure though, he is smarter under pressure than Pearce, and the club will benefit from that. No question.
I just hope he delivers, immediately, with different troops around him. Otherwise this could be an epic fail.

I saw Reynolds crying in front of me after the game and yelled out 'WHAT ARE YOU CRYING ABOUT?!?!? GO SAY SORRY TO COOPER YOU GRUB!!!' He looked up at me with a pretty broken looking face.
Manly supporters worried we will try and lure Pearce back when Cronk retires in 2 years, hence why he is only signing for 2 years with them..
Now they epitomise the true version of the word “flog”..
Get over it, professional sports demand successful outcomes
Player loyalty is as good as the money on offer
Pearce was the epitome of mediocrity & as a key play maker deserved replacement.
Not sure who that was directed at - I'll assume me. Good for you for trotting out a couple unoriginal standard soundbites.
As for Pearce being mediocre for us, he certainly wasn't. He just wasn't as good as you wanted him to be. He played 200+ games, and won plenty for us, no amount of "get over it" from you will change my mind about his poor treatment by a group of "fans".

If the forwards dont turn up & get the team on a roll it's the teams general that is at fault.
Spine players especially half backs are paid the highest amount out of all the players in the team so ultimately they are held responsible for the teams success.
Do I agree with that? No
Would Ive liked Pearce to stay & release Friend? Yes
Did the club need to bring in as professional like Cronk? Yes
There was no proper leader in the team & the Roosters management knew it & addressed it. Pearce had the choice to stay but he chose to leave.
The memory I have of Pearce is a bloke who tried his guts out every game but could never get repeat sets building pressure on the opposition.
Ask the famous poster “sstae” as he seems to call Pearce baggers “flogs”
Ahh - ok. I guess that makes you one?
And LOL at the Manly conspiracy theories that's hilarious.
