Now that Cronk is in, Pearce will almost certainly go and despite reports, I would expect some clubs to offer close to the $800K to bring him in. So how does signing Cronk cost us a player like Crighton, who I don't think we need unless releasing 'Origin' Boyd.
I am assuming Mitch stays, which means his $800K is not available. Then we have our own coming off contract in 2018 which we might like to extend as well. I'm not convinced we need Crighton either - we are not short of options in the back row/lock position.

We'll find a way to get him.

And which of our quality second rowers/locks should be replaced by him - Cords, Aubs, Matterson, Lui, SST ?? I don't know about you, but I'm happy with our current ones. And I hoping that none of them will be forced back into the centres in 2018 to babysit Ferguson defensively. I'd prefer Ferguson not be there, if he can't learn to defend properly.

If you had your way Novice, we'd never sign anyone. You were against Mason, SBW and now Cronk. Were you happy when Freddy, Anasta and Keary signed?

SST is a lock. Lui is a prop/lock rotation player. Aubs is a utility and probably only has a couple more good seasons in him.

That leaves Cordner as our only strike edge forward.

I would welcome Crighton with open arms. He is potentially the best edge forward in the game.

Anyone should be able to see what a damaging player he will become.

Don't have an issue with the Cronk signing. Just realistic that there will be fall out from it. And it may not be Pearce who pays the biggest price, but Keary. Hope you are ready to accept that one.

For the record, I was filthy when Anasta signed - I thought he was just another dirty dog that Politis had an obsession with. I was wrong on that one - he was the most decent individual of a bad lot. Happy with the Fittler signing, unsure about Keary - but that was because he was Vermin.

My views on Mason and SBW are well known - no need to go into that again.

He would be damaging off the bench in the middle period when we tend to slacken right off.

If we have made an offer for a front rower of his quality, I assume someone on some decent coin will be leaving.

                          Didn't he just re-sign?

A shame as he's the perfect prop for what we need.

I read somewhere he had 'probably' put pen to paper to stay at the Raiders (I think it was in Foxsports website) but that was not an official press release so maybe we are trying to woo him away...

We still have $800K in our cap apparently.
