What absolute nonsense in the media atm from the usual drongos. First Geyer and now Willie.

"The Roosters are signing Cronk. The sky is falling in! Woe be the Roosters for signing one of the greats!"

****ing plonkers. It's Mitchell Pearce he's replacing, not the Immortal Mitchell Paul.

Willie Mason sprays Roosters boss Nick Politis and issues dire warning over Cooper Cronk pursuit

FORMER Roosters hardman Willie Mason has issued an almighty spray aimed at his old boss Nick Politis over the club’s pursuit of Cooper Cronk.
Mason is filthy the Chooks are chasing Cronk’s signature for the fact it could cost them a favourite son in Mitchell Pearce or Jake Friend.

Pearce is reportedly livid at Cronk’s pending arrival at Bondi, which would likely push him out of his halfback position.

In the past 48 hours it’s been reported Manly has already began discussions with Pearce, while Newcastle coach Nathan Brown revealed his interest in the NSW Origin playmaker.

League legend Mark Geyer told Triple M’s Grill Team on Thursday why the Roosters won’t be a better team with Cronk at No. 7 instead of Pearce.
And Mason took the criticism a step further when he called out Roosters boss Politis in an impressive rant on SkipiTV.

He claims it is Politis who is driving the Cronk pursuit, but coach Trent Robinson will be the man left answering the questions if the deal goes sour.

“Robbo will be at the coal face, but with that club Nick Politis makes every single big move,” Mason said.

“(Politis) won’t face any cameras. He will sit there and make these moves and everyone else has got to deal with it.”

Mason says when he signed with the Roosters in 2008 the entire deal was done through Politis.

Now he fears the pursuit of Cronk could tear the culture of the club apart.

The ramifications of Cronk’s signing are already being laid bare with the news of Pearce wanting out.

Cronk brings another level of experience and leadership with him, but Mason fears it could mean nothing if his arrival pushes other players out.

Mason says other Roosters players may not respect Cronk as much if his signing costs them Pearce.

“I’m not sure how he’s going to put himself in that locker room, enforce himself and tell Friendy (Jake Friend) and those other guys that are going to have in the back of their head ‘you’re only here because you flicked one of my best mates’,” Mason said.

“We’ve heard rumours Pearce wants out ... maybe Friend wants out? It could start a revolt.

“That playing group has been together for about six or seven years, the main playing group — Friend, Pearce, Boyd Cordner.

“They’ve won premierships together, so when you slide in there like Cooper Cronk is now, it’s just the worst situation for him.”

Our players should be worrying about what's in the front of their heads and not in the back of them.
Worrying when the next "ball handling improvement session" is, for example.

PRO FOOTBALLERS [should]sign where they can get the best deal...which [should] not always be about money.
They should also realise that their contracts at a club are only for the number of years stated in them...and that clubs might choose not to renew a player's contract.

      PRO FOOTBALL is a business.

Pearce was lucky he wasn't booted out last year after the 'dog' incident...with no pay!
The Club supported him...he owes us some loyalty.

If the Club/coach wants him to play in a position other than half back, then that's what he should do!
He should learn from Cronk and improve his game.

I'm not sure people are saying that the club hasn't been loyal to Pearce but rather that they hope the club stays that way towards him.

Disagree, pearce would be a revelation at hooker/dummy half, lets be honest, he would have ended up playing that position eventually anyway

                      It's Pearce's ego preventing it.

Supporting Pearce is definitely unfashionable, it's kind of like Trump. No one says it publicly because the opposition opinions are generally so brutally forward & aggressive, but there's always plenty of support there. He always gets a good cheer at home games & is pretty popular at members gatherings.
I've never seen Trump getting a good cheer at home games.

Pearce's ego will send him on a downward spiral if he is not prepared to learn from Cronk!

BTW, i think the comparison of Pearce supporters to Trump supporters is a good one.
