  • cancelling memberships

I cannot beleive how many fans have said they're going to cancel their club membership and/or relinquish the jerseys they have acquired over many years of supporting the Roosters!!!!!!!!
Well I follow and support the Rooster, the ESRLFC, and whoever puts on the RWB jumper is a favourite player of mine, and whoever leaves the club, I wish them well in their future. I do not and will not support a team because a certain player plays for them, I follow and will always follow the Roosters, and if there is no Roosters team, I lose interest in RL in general.
So those of you who have already bought memberships and have jerseys you want to throw away, PM me and I'll be happy to take them off your hands if it makes you feel any better.

People who cancel memberships aren't true supporters. If we win a comp they'll come crawling back.

I cancelled my season membership for 2 years whilst Mason was at the club and have never regretted it. There was no way my hard earned was funding that low life's stay at our club.

Still supported the chooks as a team (apart from him) and club, simply did it from the couch at home til he was gone. Then re-newed my membership and financial commitment to the club.

Whilst I disliked SBW, it wasn't to the extreme that I cancel my membership again. I just didn't clap or cheer him as an individual whilst at the games - simple enough to do. Ferguson gets pixie claps from me if he's lucky nowdays!

I'm not sure why anyone would cancel their membership over Cronk coming though - he seems like a genuine, decent bloke and a total clean skin. I didn't think JuJu had that many supporters at the club!

Supporting the RW&B, through good times and bad times.

i don't think it's Cronk as such NC as you said he is a clean skin and admirable both in and off the field. It would be more the treatment of current loyal players and the negative flow on effects this deal could possibly bring. I think if he signs we run the risk of losing more that just Pearcey and Friend.

Good on you for standing up for what you believe in. There's not enough of it these days.

We are signing the best half in the world man and so called supporters are cancelling their memberships.

I guess they are pissed off we are not going to kick many more aimless midfield bombs and perhaps win a premiership.

We sign a world class fullback and half who are both ornaments to the game and people quit supporting the chooks, that will do me lol.....

I'm willing to bet that our membership will exponentially increase if we sign Cronk and get rid of Wayne's son.

Just on Willie Mason, have a read of this shit!

FFS anyone would think that no club has ever pushed out a long term player in favour of a superstar.

What absolute nonsense in the media atm from the usual drongos. First Geyer and now Willie.

"The Roosters are signing Cronk. The sky is falling in! Woe be the Roosters for signing one of the greats!"

****ing plonkers. It's Mitchell Pearce he's replacing, not the Immortal Mitchell Paul.

                    ...
Willie Mason sprays Roosters boss Nick Politis and issues dire warning over Cooper Cronk pursuit

FORMER Roosters hardman Willie Mason has issued an almighty spray aimed at his old boss Nick Politis over the club’s pursuit of Cooper Cronk.
Mason is filthy the Chooks are chasing Cronk’s signature for the fact it could cost them a favourite son in Mitchell Pearce or Jake Friend.

Pearce is reportedly livid at Cronk’s pending arrival at Bondi, which would likely push him out of his halfback position.

In the past 48 hours it’s been reported Manly has already began discussions with Pearce, while Newcastle coach Nathan Brown revealed his interest in the NSW Origin playmaker.

League legend Mark Geyer told Triple M’s Grill Team on Thursday why the Roosters won’t be a better team with Cronk at No. 7 instead of Pearce.
And Mason took the criticism a step further when he called out Roosters boss Politis in an impressive rant on SkipiTV.

He claims it is Politis who is driving the Cronk pursuit, but coach Trent Robinson will be the man left answering the questions if the deal goes sour.

“Robbo will be at the coal face, but with that club Nick Politis makes every single big move,” Mason said.

“(Politis) won’t face any cameras. He will sit there and make these moves and everyone else has got to deal with it.”

Mason says when he signed with the Roosters in 2008 the entire deal was done through Politis.

Now he fears the pursuit of Cronk could tear the culture of the club apart.

The ramifications of Cronk’s signing are already being laid bare with the news of Pearce wanting out.

Cronk brings another level of experience and leadership with him, but Mason fears it could mean nothing if his arrival pushes other players out.

Mason says other Roosters players may not respect Cronk as much if his signing costs them Pearce.

“I’m not sure how he’s going to put himself in that locker room, enforce himself and tell Friendy (Jake Friend) and those other guys that are going to have in the back of their head ‘you’re only here because you flicked one of my best mates’,” Mason said.

“We’ve heard rumours Pearce wants out ... maybe Friend wants out? It could start a revolt.

“That playing group has been together for about six or seven years, the main playing group — Friend, Pearce, Boyd Cordner.

“They’ve won premierships together, so when you slide in there like Cooper Cronk is now, it’s just the worst situation for him.”

What a beat up, if people don’t see that there is a opportunity for Cronk to coach halves at our club when he hangs up his boots for years, then they don’t see much. I don’t mind if we don’t sign him really either.

Not that I dislike Pearce or friend in general, but they will never be mentioned in the same breath as Freddy, mini, fitzy, lam,Morley, wing and many many others as being two of my favourite roosters. Long way down the list, many players leave some form of legacy, whether it be because of their skills, playing ability, how they handle themselves off field, comical character or many other things, but I got nothing for either of these guys.

Ironic that Mason is worried about our club and culture tearing apart. He did his best to destroy it when he was there.

As I've written elsewhere, the roosters are still risking Cronk delivering without the storm structure, players and coach around him. However, more to the point of this post, whilst I will always support the roosters and have so for 50 years and pretty much watched almost every rooster game in that time, the club is more than a name and a jersey to me. The players are part of the fabric of the club and when players whose heart is in the club and play well, they deserve some respect and support. Yes some of them make mistakes, but in particular Pearce's misdemeanours were pretty trivial in the scheme of things. A supposed 'hit' on the girl in the yellow dress and the non sex with a pooch in the privacy of a private home unit was certainly a beatup.. His ability is also affected by the players around him and JWH and Napa went missing big time in the preliminary final. How often is it said the forwards lay the platform for the backs and halves to play off ? Cronk certainly has a huge leg up playing behind the storm pack and one c. Smith orchestrating the play. I wont be cancelling membership, but for me I rather see the Roosters develop their own players where possible, and add to the roster where talent becomes available. I don't pretend to have any inside knowledge, but I would be very surprised, if Cronk signs, that it wouldn't cause some ill feeling amongst the player group. Robertson has certainly referred to Pearce as our man many a time...... and Politis doesn't always get it correct...look at the releasing of Maloney and the past signing of Anasta........

Just accept the Roosters are Politis' play thing.. he has complete control.. the board are his yes men.. who we sign and who we release is up to Politis.. end of story and it will be that way until you know when

In Robbos defence like all coaches before him, he has little control outside of preparing the footy team

That article lost all credibility as soon as I read the words “””former Roosters hardman”””. They obviously didn’t watch any games.

(Why won’t it let me use quotation marks?)
