  • Salary Cap

Anyone know, please, that if we have a player...say Nikorima, on $400,000 a season and we release him to the Broncos...and the Broncos pay him $200,000 a season...and we have to pay him the $200,000 difference...does that $200,000 have to be included in our salary figure every season until his contract with us has expired?

    Yes
In fact I think Jackson Hastings is still partly under our cap

He only has one year to go...... have to bite the bullet on a bad decision recruiting him in the first place, I would be happy to have him gone if it only costs us $200K. No future for him with us anyway.

        I've been mis-informed?
Mind you, It wasn't a great total anyway.
The price of losing Maloney, still haunts us?

          Thanks for that, forumites.

Letting Maloney go was a mistake...even our H.O. said so.

We now have Keary ...so the Maloney haunting should be over now...and is for me.

So, Pearce is allegedly offended and wants out.
Got 2 years to run on his contract? reportedly at $800,000 a season.

If Pearce decides to go elsewhere, say Manly, and Manly can only offer him $600,000 a season...can we have him sign a no-payment release so we don't have to pay the difference and include the $200,000 in our salary cap?

If Pearce wants out of the contract then that’s on him. If manly offer him 500k and we don’t ask him to leave, then that’s what he gets. If we ask him to leave, then we pay the remainder of his contract.

Useless gromit. I'd rather pay him to not play for us than pay him to play for us. That bloke should just get a job.

Even if he wants to leave, thereby breaking his contract?

After signing Cronk and Pearce's departure.. Rooster will have enough to buy a seasoned prop.. Pleasant surprise... Watch this space..

couldnt agree more. The bloke is the biggest impersonator of a footy player I think I've ever seen.

It is still against this year's cap.

Maybe they should buy Cam Smith as well & get rid of Jake & then they could buy 2 props.
