If Pearce hasnt spat the dummy then why have there been several meetings planned re his future with Robbo etc?

Why have several clubs been mentioned as suitors?

Why after the meeting with Robbo, a no comment to the press about his future? Esp as he is contracted for 2 years.

Why did Cronk call him asking him to stay?

Why hasnt he hosed down those stories?

The holiday couldnt come at.a better time. He needs some time to calm down and think.

If u believe he didnt spit the dummy, I have a holden Camira for $150k only done 1000kms in good condition...

Of course he would have meetings with Trent, his position in the team has been taken by a new recruit and he has every right to know where the coach is considering playing him and Trent knows this. Seriously, I don't even know why you would ask that question.

And if Cronk is the classy operator everyone is saying he is, of course he would be having a chat with Mitch, and encouraging him to stay part of the club. He would realise that Mitch is going to have to take a back seat to him, whether he says it publicly or not.

If you can't see the media beatup and circus for what it is then I can only assume that you originally bought the Holden Camira for $300K and are trying to recoup some of your losses. And it's not as if Mitch would have much respect or trust for the media and I doubt he would want to give any credence to their grubby tactics. The bloke has been burnt too many times before.

If you were in Mitch's position, I can guarantee you would need some time to clear your mind and consider your options, which is exactly what Mitch is doing now, while he is on holiday. A holiday that would have booked long before Stormboy came to town.

Geez, if I had the opportunity to have the same salary, not do as much to earn it, and have a reasonable chance of team success at the same time I wouldn't knock it back. I doubt the ChipStealers, Knaughts or Peptide Kings can match that offer.

Supporting the RW&B, through good times and bad times.

Valid points Novice, my lunch break is over so i cannot disect and counter lol...

Re the 800k to not do much Im sure id like it too. But we are not Mitchell Pearce and Sterlo put it well yesterday saying. If Roosters have been your team for past 10 yrs and u consider yourself a top tier half and current origin half. I dont think u would take being a bench option very well.

Re the Camira u are correct I bought it for 300.......

        Dollars.....

Brawl, it seems pretty simple to me. I don't understand why you can't see it.
Pearce is on a contract which ends in two years time. That contract is allegedly worth $800k a year. He plays in a position which is regarded as one of the most important positions in a rugby league team. And there is only room for one player in that position, unlike backrowers and props and centres etc where you have two.
The Australian halfback has been signed on a $1 million dollar contract and he happens to play in his position. The club isn't paying him that kind of money to play out of position Or on the bench.
So you think Pearce should just go ' oh cool, awesome, no worries, best just get on with it then, see what happens in the first round of team selections'? No, the normal human thing to do is to think, wow, so they've just bought the Australian half to play in my posotion. So where does that leave me? What plans does Robbo have for me? I've represented my state at the highest level. Does the club still want me? If so, do I want to play on the bench, out of position or am I better off going somewhere else where I can play a full 80 minutes each week.
Why do you automatically equate Pearce asking questions of his employer about his future now that an Australian rep has been recruited into his position with spitting the dummy? Does he not have a right to ask these questions of Robbo and the club? Did he not sign a contract with the club?

I reckon we should offer Keary a 3 yr deal (disappointing now I hear that it's only 2...BBQ anyone?). Heavily back ended in the 3rd year when Cronk has moved on.

            Any takers ?????

I can only imagine that when Mitcell Pearce gave the ultimatum - it's him or me re Brian Smith - to the Roosters that opened the door for Robbo. Pearce heartily endorsed Robbo just as he had Smith three years before. And Robbo has publicly gone to bat for Pearce. But to have father Wayne try and pressure the Roosters over Cronk was not on. Seems like Pearce has always had it his way and when the tables are turned he is reportedly dummy spitting. Loyalty cuts both ways.

Personally I think the Roosters easy attitude with Pearce has had an enabling effect. If they alone would have been privy to his puppy love chances are we - the fans - would know nothing of it. Even Robbo has become the politician. Remember his statement how Latrell was never 'dropped'. So we're to believe that he elected to play for Wyong?

He should.be our 5/8th for another 5 or 6 years.

i cant see how letting maloney go panned out real well at all. We could have had another premiership.

Keary deal not over the line

While most of the focus of Cronk’s signing with the Roosters has been on Mitchell Pearce’s next move, a snag with the club’s extension offer to Luke Keary could be the next plot twist, according to The Australiansenior rugby league reporter Brent Read.

Speaking on NRL 360, Read revealed Keary was underwhelmed by the money on offer from the club to keep the five-eighth tied at Bondi for a further two years beyond his current contract, which expires at the end of next season.

Keary had an outstanding 2017 but the Roosters’ decision to add Cronk and Tedesco on big deals, while trying to keep their current playmakers, could ultimately cost him a significant pay rise.

According to Read that could potentially change the conversation around Pearce.

“The interesting thing about Keary is they’re (the Roosters) in talks with him about a contract extension and from what I can understand the offer hasn’t been that good,” Read said.

“It’s nowhere near what Luke Keary would expect so maybe, if they can’t reach an agreement with Luke Keary on an extension, maybe it’s Keary who goes and Mitchell Pearce plays five-eighth.”
I really like Keary, but ive had an awful feeling since Cronk that he's on more shakier ground than Pearce

Very well said MR, can't fault your logic.

But like the brawler, I can just see Pearce spitting the dummy.

Well, with all the so called media rumour, Innuendo and speculation being thrown around. Why didnt Pearce and or his management and Roosters management put this 'thing' to bed then?

If parties consent any contract can be terminated, provided consideration is provided, providing there is no breach by the payee, in this case the player.

Like how i used the word provided multiple times MR lol.

He may not have but I feel it is more likely than not he has spit the dummy and confided to people whom leaked it to the media he was unhappy. He may change his tune, have a press comference, do the positive pr spin, but im of a reasonable belief he would have spit it to someone to have all the rumour and innuendo occurring right now.

Lol Eddie. You're such a stirrer. I'm just trying to look at the situation objectively that's all. The club's made a big call to replace Pearce with a 34 year old champion halfback. The club is within its rights to do that but so too is Pearce within his rights to question where he fits in to this new set-up since he has a signed contract and has been our half for a decade. I don't see him as spitting the dummy at all. Well not from the info I know in the media which, let's face it is probably mostly a load of rubbish anyway! The ones I see as spitting the dummy are the people with an agenda such as the anti-easts media brigade like Geyer and Roach, and those who want to see Pearce in their team like Rothfield.

Because they shouldn't have to answer to the media which on the whole have hung Pearce out many times before. The media will write whatever they want anyway and milk it for all they can. Have you noticed a difference between the News Ltd reporting and that of Fairfax? One is way more sensationalised than the other.

The immoral Andrew Johns said he should go to Newcastle or play hooker (ohh I spelt immortal incorrectly, though I'll stick with my first attempt)

Sorry, I didn't see all of your post before I replied. Pearce may well have whinged to others privately. It would be a very human response to do so. I'm sure other players in similar situations in other clubs have whinged in the past too. You've also got to remember the club only officially announced the signing yesterday.

And your use of the word provided was very impressive, if I do say so!

I wonder how long-term we were thinking when we released everybody before 2016. Wonder if Uncle Nick had already had informal chats with Keary, Tedesco and Cronk? Surely it isn’t a complete fluke that we magically had enough money in the coffers for all 3. Like...
                                - RTS, we’re not paying you $1M a year because we can get Teddy for that you fool! Now you either wanna buy into our long-term plan or you’re gonna go for the quick cash. Can guarantee the Warriors won’t give you another premiership mate.
                                - JIMMY!!! Maaaaaate. $600k is pretty good. We can get Cooper Cronk for then $1M you are asking. No hard feeling but if we want a half your age for that, we’ll call Cooper.
                                - Connor... WTF mate?!?!? You can go play for the Knights if you like, we really want you as a bench utility! We can get Luke keary for $500k mate... you that good as a 5/8 are you? K go prove it to everybody at Newcastle then.
                                - Jenko... go kick boom gates and stuff in Parra. It’s fun, trust me. [Oooh yes, more $$$!!]
                                - SKD... go snort coke elsewhere. [Ching ching, here comes $$$)]
