The most worrying thing about this is that there's supporters out there that would rather see keary let go than Pearce. Cronk with Pearce will not work as well as Cronk and Keary.
anyone remember Pearce and Hastings combination??
    Is that the full story,
    or is your news limited?

You are quite right, but Keary wasnt the one spitting the dummy and carrying on for the media to have a feeding frenzy about his future re the potential Cronk signing.

A Keary, Cronk combo is a far better one than Pearce Cronk as Keary is a natural 5/8th.

I hope Pearce takes Sterlo's advice on this one.

Pearce isn't asking for this. There have been no direct quotes from him. He's not asking for all the speculation and gossip that's going on about his future.
How do you know he's spitting the dummy?

If Pearce delivered in his frequent promises we wouldn't be having this debate at all. It's not as if the Roosters haven't had a great roster for years now with promising juniors coming through too. But apart from Sonny Bill some of our role models haven't been what you'd call inspiring off the field. As has been posted here by others the Roosters stood by Pearce when the NRL wanted to make an example of him. And the corker is - it wasn't his first offence by far. And had it not been publicised who knows how many would have followed.

Despite this the Pearce fans wanted the messenger shot. As if they were doing him any favours there. The bias for the chosen one has been such that even when Todd Carney took out the Dally M and got us to a grand final in what was his best ever season - who took out the Jack Gibson medal. Got it in one - Mitchell Pearce. Go figure because I'm still trying to work that one out.

Last season Luke Keary was our best. Again that was confirmed by most judges and even some of the Roosters interviewed on awards night thought Keary would get the prize. The fans player of the year went to - Mitchell Pearce. Now I'm not saying he had a bad season. He started it like a house on fire and finished with a whimper but overall wasn't the worst. But the best? in 2017?

And now we have Trent scrambling to placate Mitchell because the club wants to sign a player who has constantly outplayed him. There's your problem - right there!

Which beggars the question: What does Wayne Pearce have on Trent?

Geeze I'd hate it if we lost Keary.

BUT, we better get used to long drawn out negotiations ..............and major issues retaining players.......(Pearce + Cronk + Tedesco + Friend + JWH + Cordner ........must be very close to 5 million right there)

I've got a really bad feeling about us Retaining or not Retaining Keary......more to the point.

I reckon he will not sign anything for a long while (if we keep Pearce), and he may find himself in a utility role off the bench.

                      Shyte.

The reason why I'm not 100% comfortable with putting so much money into the Cronk signing.
What's better? Pearce and Keary in the halves with some depth added to our forwards and centre postions?
Or Cronk and Pearce in the halves with limited or no depth added to the forwards / centres?

Cronk and Pearce as a halves pairing will not work.

Maybe that's because Cronk plays in Pearce's position and not Keary's?
And why do you assume Pearce is spitting the dummy when for me it's just a media beat-up to generate clicks and get people talking?

As far as I am aware Mitch has not spat the dummy, and there have been no direct comments made by him to the media at all. In fact, he has been silent on the subject. It is not his fault that Cronk and the Roosters created this media circus.

No one is disputing that a Cronk/Keary combo makes more sense. But the fact is that Mitch has a 2 year contract and the expectation that he be the fall guy and pay the biggest price in a situation not of his making is extremely unfair.

If Mitch is happy to play a role at the Chooks, whatever it is, then I would prefer the Roosters honour his contract. If that means that there is not enough money in the kitty for Keary then so be it, the Roosters would have known that when they signed Cronk. Fact is Keary is off contract at the end of 2018, Mitch isn't. If they want Keary so much, they will do what it takes to make him a competitive offer, but just like Mitch, he may have to make some sacrifices to stay at the Chooks.

Pearce is a half back fail (for us)
