How Friend missed out on Roos selection is anyone's guess as surely he is still the second best dummy half in the game- even Sterlo says this. Lichaa from the Dogs was stifled by Hasler by the way he wanted him to play and in the last few games showed what he could do given the freedom to play his game and was eventually re-signed by the Dogs when they made their coaching change.

Meninga said he picked Hunt because he was versatile - when Boyd withdraw he picked Mansour who is only a winger - Fergo who missed out at first can play wing/centre/fullback and surely is more versatile than Mansour to be selected instead.- Coaches make plenty of wrong calls

I hope they can fit all in and if not I would be releasing Keary and putting the development into a youngster like Lachlan Lam for the NRL 5/8 Role - will have 2 years to develop him if not earlier for NRL standard- selected in the PNG side for the RLWC for starters- and not because his dad is a former Kamul player/ Captain as well as Coach,

Friend must be retained in my view and let him play his game Robbo
A halves pairing of Cronk and Pearce will not work. They are both organising half backs. There is no way we should be releasing Keary which is why this plan to buy Cronk is so confusing. To buy Cronk, Pearce will have to go. He is untried at hooker and I doubt he would want to play there anyway, and as I said Cronk and Pearce is not a good halves pairing imo.

If a player goes it might have to be Keary - not that I want any player to go that is - Lachlan Lam should be fast tracked to NRL standard - 2 years or so should be enough if Cronk signs for 2 years - Seen Lam play a lot and he in my mind will be a better player than Keary as Watson would have been too except that Robbo didn't know how to use him in games- no game time or limited game time- got more game time when he signed for the Knights for some reason??. Time Robbo started to use the local upcoming talent and have faith in them I suggest. Friend and Pearce must be retained- Robbo needs to put more into coaching and fixing the players shortfalls and improving them as players

I agree. Keary has more ad lib skill & pace than Pearce & is the spark of the back line. Pearce would be a passenger at 5/8.

Pearce may be a passenger at 5/8 but he won't even be on the bus at hooker. If Cronk comes on board, I think we may have the highest paid bench player in the comp.

dumb roosters if we sign crank. if we lose anyone, we will be still paying their contract. cronulla should buy crank and be done with all the $hit.

we dont need him we need a prop.

id donk know what came first, rumours on the chookpen, being fed by "i know someone stories" or the media reading our " i know some one stories" and us believing them once there in the print media. Then the tv airs the stories and now we all start to believe these " i know someone stories.

Still cant believe we are after old man river Cronk when Ash Taylor is up for grabs -that would be a million better spent.

May seem like old man Cronk for only 2 years to some, this is an invesTrent in the future, there is no more professional half role model and mentor to young blokes coming through than Cronk, we could not trust our current number7 to mentor anybody, he cannot even look after himself, Cronk guiding Lam and O Sullivan into first grade is a win

                    Fully agree with you.

A lot of people on this site are whingers, they whinge like lunatics after each loss and dropped ball, whinge about the behaviour of some of our so-called professional athletes, throw tantrums after the pathetic loss to the cowboys but then when the club looks to sign one of the most professional and clearly premier halves of the last decade, they whinge whinge whinge again.

Im worried that he is 35 next year....Cronk himself never came of age as a player till he was about 27....I fully understand the signing etc .I am not whinging.I just see a good result with my choice ...thats all. We shall see how it all pans out.
Teach who? Pearce and Friend ....fark me if those blokes dont know how to play by now then they should be moved on.

In SOO3 Cronk was recorded as the fastest man on the field with a speed of 34km/h. Hardly the old slow man with only a few games left in him.

Agree. Its like Hastings and Pearce playing together. Both organisers. You need a running 5/8 to compliment Cronk. Thats Keary.

In saying that, I agree with Rooster Proud. Our need for a bigger and better front row is greater than our need for a 34 yr old halfback.

Agree with you re this. Plus Taylor would be a bit cheaper imo and will be as good as Cleary will turn out to be, mark my words. He is another Thurston in the making. His footballing instinct for his age is second to none.

Plus, we could retain our halves factory and Mitchell Paul and Lachie Lam could shoot it out in a few years for a spot on the bench and backup to Taylor and Keary.

Pearce can play hooker or go as i believe Radley is ready for the step up, he is another special kid. That way we may even have money in the cap for Crichton as i rexkon we just need an old prop to help usher in the Collins class etc for one or two seasons max.

Means nothing. A few of our lower graders who are nowhere near NRL level will be representing their countries in the Mickey Mouse world cup.
