He was playing reserve grade and in the opposition Parramatta team was the veteran hardman Kevin "Stumpy" Stevens. The coach said to Sironen, "Now, when you get out there I want you to run at Stumpy Stevens." So Sironon runs on, gets the ball, and runs right at Stumpy. BANG! Stumpy poleaxes him. 10 minutes later he runs at him at again. CRUNCH! Stumpy knocks him down again.

Back in the sheds at halftime, a dazed Sironon says, "Gee, coach, why'd ya tell me to do that?"

"That was to teach you never to run at Stumpy Stevens.

Kevin Stevens is my BIL's cousin. Unfortunately toughness mustn't run in the family because BIL is far from it. Wish my sister would have married Stumpy instead

Never actually met Kevin Stevens myself, but anyone would be preferable to being related to BIL, who I have never liked. To be honest spending the occasional Xmas with BIL is bad enough, let alone including any of his family - spending it alone is preferable.
