The bunker should be able to make calls on blatant forward passes

if its tight inconclusive no worries play on. But if its blatant as last night they should intervene straight away.

would not take them more than 2 replays. 30seconds max.

Who decides if it's blatant enough to be referred? If the on field refs missed it and let the play continue how do they even know a blatant forward pass happened? If they knew it was blatant enough that be referred why didn't they just call it forward in the first place?

Too complicated. Just let the on field refs deal with it and accept they'll get a few wrong.

And I would much much rather a forward pass be called good than the reversre.

That kills me and is my pet hate in the game...just let em go.

I would prefer a system to be put in place that if a try is scored from a forward pass within any one tackle then the video ref can overule the try, but remains uninvolved otherwise.

So then every try with passes involved you'd have to wait for the video refs to clear it for forward ones. What if there are multiple potential forward passes involved? You'd have to wait for the video ref to review all of that. Too much screwing around.

The less time wasted on video ref reviews the better IMO. This year has been so much better with the quick video ref decisions. Would hate to see it go back to endless reviews of everything.

I still don't and will never get why they don't rule forward passes in tries. With all their camera angles, they could easily focus on the angle of the ball it travelled and the direction of the hands, yet they'll try and find an answer of a try made where there are 5 players on top of the ball for 2, 3, 5 mins and yet they can't see the ball or 'There is insufficient evidence...' bullshit! A cop out!

I'm not too worried about borderline forward/flat passes, as they usually go both ways during a game.

The bunker should be able to tip to the ref a blatant forward pass during the play via his earpiece. Simple. Are we playing Nfl or Nrl?

Take the second ref off the field and ask him to position himself for the forward passes.. wait a second, isn't that what touchiest should do?

seems touchiest think their job is to have the best position to wat home the game. Instead many prance around with their shorts around their arm pits

The title of this thread says it all really.

Was in AFL territory last week and they can't believe how bad our crowds are. It is quite embarrassing.

They got a bigger crowd in Ballarat this weekend than several of our matches.

What I meant was an obvious forward pass not the line ball ones.

I know what you meant. But who gets to decide if a forward pass is obvious or line ball? That's a subjective call that someone would need to make in every try that involves a possible forward pass. The lines would get blurred between what's line ball and what's obvious and there would be a lot of controversy around that. It would become a mess.

How many more bad calls will be allowed to be made before Archer is sacked?

Has archer come out yet and insisted the pass was line ball and an optic illusion?

I saw something interesting in Steve Mascord's set of 6 in the SMH. Apparently every try scored in a game is played back on the NRL's twitter feed a minute or so after it occurs live. For some strange reason only the conversion was shown of the forward pass try. Mascord was questioning whether this was a coincidence or censorship.
