Jack Cogger turns 20 this year, shame for him he's been out injured because I think he may have made them re-think the Watson signing.

There'd be a few clubs enquiring about his services pretty quickly if Maloney signs I'd think. Not sure if he'd stick around until Maloney retires.

They may keep one as a backup/utility but I definitely couldn't see them keeping both Lamb & Cogger though.

I wondered why Jack Cogger wasn't getting a run. He looked the goods last year in the NYC. I rate their dummy half Danny Levi, he is sharp around the ruck and gives good service.

Signing Maloney must be priority no.1 now for the knights. Just back a dump truck of cash up to his house with a nice coaching gig tied to the end of it.

They have managed to snag a few promising youngsters and now they need a veteran player to bring them all along. Maloney is a goddamned rabbits foot for every club he goes to as well so they'd be crazy not to throw the house at him.

I'm sure we will be fine with the loss of Watson. Keary seems pretty good (although his defence truly is abysmal), and we have Teddy coming for fullback. Watson is a ball running 5/8 if ever there was one so better for him to go somewhere he can play in that position.

Also, I don't understand why any of you bother to try and name age restricted "stars" as genuine prospects. The amount of players who look like utter world beaters when running around with children who fail once they step up to the real game is far too high to ever get excited about what some kid is doing in the U20s or even worse SG Ball/Harold Matthews.

Jack Cogger was very good in First Grade last year, he's a very good prospect.

          Do some research.

The Knights dont need Maloney they need 2 seasoned forwards.
They have to sign a big name prop if they want all these young backs to strut there stuff.

I know very little about Cogger but work with a few crazy Knights fans and they rave about him

Don't need maloney? When your halves are feeny, cogger and lamb you would think a half is exactly what they need. Their forwards are actually not that bad. The saifiti boys are great and I hope they stay at Newcastle long term. Mitch Barnett and Jamie buhrer very good players as well. It's a shame hodkinson is cooked because Ponga and Watson will make them competitive once again next year.

Look at the forward packs Maloney has played behind in his 3 GF appearances. If Newcastle dont get 2 hard nut forwards & they buy Masloney you will suddenly see Maloney go from hero to zero.
Watson at FB & Ponga & Lamb in the halves behind a forward pack containing who you said plus 2 hard nut front rowers will see Newcastle climb the ladder.
Maloney will end up at Souths I bet.

I get what you're saying but Ponga Watson and lamb are all what? 21? They need a leader who can settle them down, talk to the ref's and slow the pace of the game. Someone who can develop those halves. Either way they won't be contending for a premiership next year but maybe maloney could be the difference between 8th or 9th. Obviously another forward will help. Depends who is available. Talk if throwing the kitchen sink at james Graham is ridiculous.

Interestingly, the Knights chose Brock Lamb over Latrell Mitchell when they both trialled there as juniors. It's why we ended up with him. I wonder what they think of that decision now?

Think he dislocated his hip? Serious injury. Not sold on Levi. I know there's big wraps on him but I just can't see it yet.

It will be interesting to see what Robbo does when Friend and Flash are back on the field.

Radley could easily fill a bench spot giving us a backup for Friend as well as interchanging for a backrow spot.

With Maubs and Matto capable of filling in for an injury in the backline I see more value in having Radley than Watson on the bench. He can certainly be used for more than 10 minutes.

I have no doubt Robbo would stick with Watson. I don't think Radley is big enough to fill in for a backrow position right now. Watson covers pretty much hooker, halves and fullback.

I think Robbo was pretty smart playing Radley against the team running last but if all players were fit I would have to agree with you & say that Robbo would go with Watson over Radley for a bench spot.

It could be that Latrell chose not to go with Newcastle.
There were people running the CC at the time that were deemed better people and more trustworthy.
