I can't believe how much traction this is getting. It is Buzz ffs. He has had an ongoing blue with Cleary the past few weeks and this is just another shot across the bow because the Tigers are the obvious team at present.

Why didn't he bring it up 5 years ago when the gummies were broke or when they were all on the peppies?

It won't happen in the next 5 years.

Its the same for the AFL as they have 9 Melbourne based teams left in their comp too - calls for expansion(teams in Tasmania/NZ and Second team in QLD) too and getting rid or some of these Melbourne based teams for this to occur- either by dropping them from the comp or relocating them

You guessed it, "the pride of the league", the South Sydney vermin. They have attracted an average of 11,706 to their games this year - well below the second worst, NZ at 12,196. (The Roosters are near the top at 17,890.)

It makes you wonder about their 30,000 "members". Are we really to believe that almost 20,000 ticket holders aren't turning up? Or are most of their numbers from memberships for pets?
        Interesting about Souths.

But I wouldn't get too excited about Easts. We had Anzac Day and then Adelaide on the weekend which looked half decent as well. Probably avg 30k p/game just between those two alone. Swap them for normal SFS games from this season and I reckon we'd be bottom.

Fair bit of speculation there; if I wasn't lazy-as I'd corroborate the assertion.
Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...

I'd punt Manly personally, but I think the Tigers are the more likely team to go given their financial position and the crowded western sydney market.

Once the new parra stadium is done, the NRL is going to push hard to have all teams playing out of either parra, ANZ, or Allianz (besides the Sharks, since they own their stadium). The teams that don't want to make that change will be on thin ice.

Being the only club who plays and trains out of the eastern & CBD suburbs has made any chance of relocating non existent.

Bulldogs, Rabbits, Tigers, Panthers & Eels all over lap in the markets they are trying to appeal to. This is where the congestion exists.

That's not to say we don't have work to do around juniors and crowds to secure our long term future in the East of Sydney but being the only club who plays out of the SFS is a HUGE advantage when it comes to the relocation debate.

Throw in the fact we are an extremely well run, powerful clubs with over a century of history in the game and it's a no brainer. A decade ago I wouldn't have been so sure but Mr Crowe has done us a huge favour.

            Up the Homebush Bunnies!!
Agreed, and even then they only get like 9000 people out to Homebush for a Doggies v Bunnies game, which looks pathetic.

I'm really disappointed that the Doggies got all that money to re-do Belmore and aren't using it exclusively.

Which is ironic because their market is the most affluent... inner-west hipsters from Balmain and stuff who are all really passionate about their footy (in their own bearded, craft-beerie, man-bun kinda way). Unfortunately they don't all blow dole cheques on the pokies though, so local sport struggles. They also have a habit of stuffing over loyal players and hiring dud coaches who waste all the best young talent.

So what's Rothfield's blue with Cleary about Buddy? I must have missed that one. You're right about him being very quiet when his precious sharkies were a complete basket case just a few years ago.

He has been whinging that Cleary never replies to his SMSes or calls so he has continually been bagging the Tigers over the last couple of months.
As I said, this just sounds like another crack at them knowing that the public would vote the the Tigers to be that team. I think I heard a pole this morning was 80% towards the Tigers.
Ever since he got his head on TV he thinks he is the new media King of the NRL. Little does he know that we have our very own King on the chookpen that would rival his drivel.
How desperate can Fox be employing Buzz, Blocker and Elias to give comment on league FFS?

That sounds very Buzz like. Wasn't he the one leaking the 'story' about a coach supposedly trying to get a recent star signing to backflip on a contract with his new club? Rothfield has done this with Brian Smith and Gus and Dave Smith and many others. He uses his position to destabilise those he hates. We are lucky he seems to like Robbo as he isn't as anti-Roosters as he used to be when Smith was coach.
And Blocker? What a terrible commentator he is!

I remember when Fox had a brains trust of Brett Kenny, Turvey Mortimer, Mark Geyer & Rusty Fairfax.

If Wests take over the WT JV they wont be short of cash - Need to be based at Campbelltown too as the Macarthur area and beyond (Group 6) will increase in population and thus junior numbers.

Sure. But you referred to the AFL looking at a second team in QLD. That's already happened - Brisbane and Gold Coast.

With the (godawful) M5 and expansion of the south west area, south sydney or west sydney should at least relocate out there and 1 up to Brisbane. Lol. Seriously, souths fans seem to be in every little rathole across the country. They're everywhere. Expand them!
