Id be dead against expansion, the knights have won 3 games in 2 years i doubt the talent is there to fill another team, speakimg of the knights why arent they signing more players? Guys like cody walker, luke lewis etc surely anything is better then what they have now? Or do players just really not want their money ?

Sure. But you referred to the AFL looking at a second team in QLD. That's already happened - Brisbane and Gold Coast.

With the western reds looking as likely to be dropped from super rugby, I lean towards kegs suggestion of a 20 team comp and the 5 conferences . However each conference should have a local derby so they play each other twice and generate enormous crowds and interest.
Having stand alone SOO games and promoting pacific nations and country and junior teams on those weekends will give the game a great boost and combat AFL expansion.
the tigers should become the magpies again and be at Campbeltown permanently and utilise the expansion all the way up to Bowral .

why would the afl want 2 Brisbane teams? They struggle enough to get any interest with one team in(15000), let alone two, the suns also have poor crowds(11000).

But I wouldn't get too excited about Easts. We had Anzac Day and then Adelaide on the weekend which looked half decent as well. Probably avg 30k p/game just between those two alone. Swap them for normal SFS games from this season and I reckon we'd be bottom.
Fair bit of speculation there; if I wasn't lazy-as I'd corroborate the assertion.

My main point here really related to the supposedly huge supporter base of the Vermin as demonstrated by their membership numbers. They are supposed to have 30,000 paid up members and they can only pull 11,000 to home games? Sure, when we are going poorly, our home game attendances drop to about the same figure, but our membership numbers are only about 15,000. With 20,000 supposed members not turning up to games when the going gets tough (v 4000 for us) who are the fickle ones?

Imagine in Brisbane if it was like in Sydney with two ALF teams going well (Swans/GWS) the crowds would be much bigger- If Gold Coast going better too they would really push the Titans for support if winning and the Titans were not - why the NRL needs a second Brisbane team which is viable on and off the field to combat the ALF encroachment in so called Traditional League areas- Regional NSW- Could end up AFL controlled if something isn't done to give kids the options to play either of the codes not just League/AFL but Football and Union.
NRL/Football/Union need to take heed of what the AFL are doing for sure as their goal is the make AFL the number one football code in Australia.Last edited by King Salvo; 06-28-2017, 11:56 PM.
