He avoided a conviction because he plead guilty according to the news. The last time I checked, innocent people don't plead guilty.

Nobody's saying he's innocent. However, he got a section 10 (i.e. 'no conviction recorded') which is more like a warning notice because of his early guilty plea (and other factors such as his spotless record, commitment to charities and the fact he's lost his job over this).

TBH this is what shytes me about the NRL... you will NOT get a section 10 for a DUI. Courts are really strict on DUIs, but people still view them as being more like a parking ticket for some reason (they're not... for DUI you get arrested, charged, fingerprinted...etc like any other crim, then you've gotta go to court to argue why they shouldn't lock you up for it). I find it stupid that Papalii just missed a game against Newcastle and a nothing test (still played Origin I noticed) but SKD lost his contract with the best team in the comp (and will now have to play for Newcastle). IMO you can have no worse punishment than SKD's, and Papalii shoulda been given worse. The NRL should get serious and deregister any player busted DUI...

I'm not pro drugs but SKD endangered nobody aside from himself. Papalii quite literally coulda killed my family (we were on the road in Canberra that week). Why do the NRL continue to treat DUI convictions like parking fines?

SKD was going to lose his job anyway due to his poor performances. He just made it easier for the club to get rid of him. I dare say if he had been killing it on the field he would be lining up to take on Melbourne this weekend.

Freddy got one, Joey got one, Lockyer got one as did Daley. Alfie got several while playing.

            That's why.

They could then re-sign him on a lower tier contract for remainder of the season perhaps

Looking very likely that SKD will makes his Knights debut in Round 20 v us.

But in a cruel twist of fate, Kenny-Dowall’s return to the field will be delayed after tearing his hamstring while training with noted sprint coach Roger Fabri as he tried to maintain his fitness last week.He won’t play for the Knights against Wests Tigers next Sunday with the injury expected to sideline him for about a month.

That means Kenny-Dowall could make his debut against his former club the Roosters in round 20.
