They are paying Ponga $600K a year. They would have heaps left, particularly as their highest paid player, Jarred Mullen is gone as is the next highest in Dane Gagai. They would literally have millions spare.

Doubt they'd even be paying that much for Ponga next year. I have no doubt his contract would be heavily backended so that the bulk of the contract is for when he really starts to shine.
