Tupou is showing glimpses of being a Roosters legend. But let's be honest, he was woeful for the first part of 2016. It was a horror show. Everything he could do wrong, he did. I can't see why anyone would defend the crap that he dished up. Equally though, in the last third of season 2016 and to start 2017, he has clearly worked very hard to improve and he is deserving of all the praise he gets. And now he is getting it.

    Simple as that, isn't it?

Not really. Things are not as 'simple' as you put it. There are many factors which affect performance.

You're 100% right. Many factors affect performance. But I wasn't really talking about his performance or the factors affecting it. I was suggesting that if you play crap, you get criticised. If you play well, you get praised. It doesn't mean that the criticism or the praise was wrong at the time it was given.

I see.. ok so as far as performance in 2016, it would be hard to find one player that was consistently good throughout that year. So my point, and not directed at you, is that it's unfair to be critical of one player when many more senior players didn't show up. Bad performance was endemic last year and he was just one of the ones of many. But with that said, it's good to have the old Toups back!

As a person on here who bagged Toupou for his poor form, I am delighted with his form this year and I cheer him on. We all know what he is capable of and great to see him delivering. As fans, isn't that what we all want from our players.

Onto our other out of form players, use him as your example and lift your performance. I'm seeing Guerra try hard in recent games but I fear he is no longer worth the $ given our playing depth. Evans will need to earn his spot back and SKD errors remain a concern. Pls note, the ball is not going to SKDs side of the field - I understand that. I'm not talking about his lack of tries, im talking about his U14 errors like failing to play the ball (even before fatigue kicks in).....unforgivable.....I fear he has few games left to prove himself....How is JTS and other wingers performing in lower grades? Will MAnu shift to wing?

Nothing to do with it. Toups best footy has been when he has had a quality centre inside of him.
