You shouldn't pick your team on the basis that you're going to switch off in the second half.

Not sure how we've all come to the conclusion that Watson would've changed all that. I love Watson and I think he's going to be a gun off the bench in 2017 I just can't see the logic in how Watson not playing had such a huge effect on the game.
The one thing we were doing really well was defending in the middle, I'd argue bringing Watson on could've compromised that but then defence seems to get such little consideration on this forum so I may be on my own there.

Great win and a fantastic match. Both teams out on their feet for that last 15 mins and were trading blows and going at it. Jared and Napa really took it to them in that last 7 or so minutes - it was great to watch.
Well done to guerra who was outstanding, and Keary - what a champion. He just kept getting stuck-in in defence on that left edge all night. Hurrell was steaming into him and he held on each time.
Toups and Skd did a great job in attack and Fergo - although quiet - made some very good and critical defensive reads on more than a few occasion.
They were just knackered by the 60th min - it was really apparent at the ground. That's why they were forcing crap passes when they needn't have. This hit out will make all the difference.
Look out Dogs.Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...

Fantasic that we won, although I would have picked Carter over Matterson, Carter just has that mongrel about him and is fearless in my opinion, Matterson is neither he is just a bigger Braith.
Skidsy and Toop's need to work on their error rate and play the percentages. Halves were very good tonight especially in the first half, Jake is still passing too damned flat and is making errors at dummy half either with forward passes or flat out hospital passes, he used to be better maybe he needs the captaincy taken off him to concentrate on his own game.
Someone needs to lay the law down onfield to try to overcome the adlib/rushed gameplay and to try to get back to the structures, Jake ain't it.

I'm over the moon we won and the first half was some of the best footy we have played for years.
The second half was diabolical. Dumb play after dumb play with no respect for possession.
I wonder how the Storm or Cowboys captains would address the problem 'in game' if similar happened to them? I have no doubt Smith or Thurston would lay down the law and get them to pull their heads in. Respect possession.
I suppose my point is Friend and Cordner have gotta show stronger leadership in tough times. How many times did we make a break and instead of taking the tackle we throw a hail Mary. Time and time again they coughed it up.
Someone on the team has gotta stand up and enforce some discipline on the field. Robinson can't do it. And to be honest I don't think Jake Friend can either. I have no idea how Cordner is with the players, but Friend can't even put two words together in the press conference. It's painful.
Anyway this isn't a doom and gloom post. I'm happy to take the win and move on. But I think we need better leadership out there during tough times. Someone who is prepared to tell some hometruths to his team mates. Like I said tho, I don't think Friend is up to that.
And I'm not sure who in the team is to be honest.Embrace the Hate! JC
