I don't doubt robbo as coach but why does this happen

He is clearly the best coach in the comp but he just has some sort of blind spot when it comes to friend. No matter how tired Jake gets or how many mistakes that tiredness starts to cause he never hooks him

Bringing Watson on in that second half would have been a bad move. We needed to get back in the gring not bring on another high energy player who is prone to making errors.

As opposed to leaving on a low energy player who was constantly making errors anyway?

If Watson had come on in the last 10-15 of the first half we'd have buried them, AND friend would have been fresh for the second half

SKD's go forward was unreal. They both did alot more good things than not good things.

I'm with you.. I went from cheering and standing up and clapping them off at half time to sitting in front of tv stressed out and then slumping in my chair relived but not happy. Love them but jeez that 2nd half was depressing after being so good in the 1st half..at least we won

Unfortunately for him the boys were never in the game in the second half and all he would have been doing is making a shit ton of tackles which isn't exactly his strength.

Coaches need to be able to adapt to the circumstances and Robbo did, if there's no benefit in playing all 17 players then don't.

Friend has said he wants to play the whole 80, we can't be playing with 16 week in and out friendy has to think of the team. Also I thought Kane was very good tonight

Kennys two unforced bumbles in the first half, then a pressure pass to toops who drops it, and then kenny going for a fullbacks catch when it was always Gordon's catch was enough for me to see that discipline will still be our main issue.

Latrell Mitchell was very good and performed well at centre, needs to keep working on his passing game and Tupou performs well with a centre like him inside him

i thought bar a couple of errors Gordon was the first player in a long time who looked like a fullback in the number 1 jersey - i think they got Latrell and him in the right positions at this stage

Nah I still reckon Watson should have been given time on the field for Friend. He would not have let anyone down.

Dunno about you blokes but I'm just pumped we won round 1, we had to wait a few weeks last year and even though 2nd half was still dissapoiting that first half was sublime. Don't stress, we will be fine this year just enjoy the first win !

Can you afford to go into a game with a player who is there as back up only? Carter is probably a better option if that is the case, as he can fill in for jake.

In hindsight Carter probably would have offered more but I'd still be picking Watson every day of the week.

You shouldn't pick your team on the basis that you're going to switch off in the second half.
