When he made first contact, the Manly forwards just kept going and he would hang on for dear life waiting for the second and third defenders. He was a large reason they found metres through the middle so easily. In attack he could barely make a dent.

As I keep saying, giving a guy $500K with zero footballing skills was a mistake of epic proportions. They should have had a succession plan to move him on when he became too expensive, guys like him are pretty easily replaceable. The best sides move hell and earth to keep their spine players and happily let back rowers, wingers and centre's go. We gave those guys a stack of money instead and lost the spine.
Guerra is real dilemna. Too expensive to drop and an Origin player but does not put in every week and seems unfit and uninterested at times. Way too much cash for a non-superstar backrower though for sure. If we had let him go he would not have been missed.

Well the likes of Matterson, Butcher and now Carter are coming strongly for Guerra's spot there's no doubt about that.

I wouldn't even start the year with Guerra personally.

Let's not forget Tetevano and Collins. Sure they are more recognized as front rowers but they can help allow for a shifting of some positions. I am pretty sure Tetevano came on in the last 20 against Manly and he looked strong. Also trapped a dangerous grubber on the try line, raced 20 metres to grab the ricochet at ankle height running full speed, palmed off a defender and got tackled around the 40 metre line. I think he could possibly play Lock. This is the pack I would like to see Round 1 but obviously won't happen. Admittedly it will probably mean Cordner and Aubbo will have to play the best part of 80 minutes but they are capable.

SST will come back as will Butcher in the next couple months. At that point, SST to second row, Aubbo to bench and Tetevano or Collins dropping off, form and injury permitting with Butcher throwing his hat into the mix.

          9. Friend
          10. Napa
          11. Aubbo
          12. Cordner
          13.Liu

          14. Watson
          15. Tetevano
          16 .Collins
          17. Carter

No such thing as too expensive to drop, you don't get your money back for playing him in reserves, what is worse, is playing him because you're to proud to drop him for somebody who is on a quarter of the money and gives you a better chance of winning a game.

Not really, whilst he didn't play that week against the Dragons, he didn't turn out for Wyong. We won 42-6 against the Dragons, at that point our best performance all season, yet he was picked the following week in First Grade again. It was more 'rested' than 'dropped'. Generally if you are 'dropped' you play for the reggies and if the firsts win by a big margin, you don't get reinstated into the team the following week with your replacement (Matto from memory) being dropped the following week.

Does guerra have some sort of a back issue? Whenever he plays the ball ( including the nines) he just seems so gassed and slow and crouches over and plays it. Kills our momentum at times and just bugs me. He is a very fidgety sorta player. Never runs hard or direct always spinning or slow and sideways. As for latrell, at the trial he was pretty solid with contact on his man but with the reading of certain set plays he was caught out a few times. Very interesting to see how he develops there for us this year.
