Settle Tommy..
'Defence speed and Fitness ' hopefully ball control was high on the agenda as well!!

      Last year he had confidence

This year he has grown into a back rowers body, he looked bigger but without losing the pace at the 9's

Likely gets a run during Origin when Guerra & Cords are away for 2 games

Wish he gets a game sooner.......

One must have missed the 9's and last week ends trial?

I can't believe how big this kid is. He seems to have put on even more size in the off season. Needs to improve his ball handling, particularly when hitting a hole, but there is plenty of potential. I doubt we see him in the halves anymore. And maybe not even centre. Got ball playing forward all over him.

Great re-signing. Like others on here, am really looking forward to watching his development in the RW&B!

He's definitely put on size, you can see it all over his instagram, definitely a 2nd rower now.

He will be getting plenty of game time for the Roos. He will be about 4th or 5th in line for a back row spot unless in the up coming trial he shows some aggression & mongrel to match his size.
Im not convinced on Matterson he actually reminds me of Anasta a big strong bloke that doesnt like the tough stuff. Hope he proves me wrong.

If he continues to develop he could be that second phase ball playing forward we seem to be lacking.

Probably wont see too many games from the get go but as injuries and rep duties impact on our squad I can see him getting an extended run in the top grade Once Guerra hopefully pisses off end of 2017, he will contend for a position in the starting 13.

That shouldn't be too hard. 🙄

Great re-signing. I'm hoping he will find his niche in the backrow. I'm not sure he will start in the first 17, but he will get his chance to impress at some stage. Like another poster said, it's all about creating depth and competition for places within the team. During a long NRL season it's the teams with the best depth which do the best. A lot of our young guys got a taste of the NRL last year, due to the crazy circumstances the club was dealt, with injuries, suspensions and releasing of star players. This will improve depth and competition for places in the first 17. And yes I await the usual comments about Robbo not being willing to drop players. Maybe he will be more willing to do so this year given we have more players with genuine experience.

If I was coach I would've given Guerra, Tupou and Evans all a stint in reserve grade, but there is a good argument regarding the lack of quality replacements available. The injury toll certainly added to that.
It's a different scene this year.
Blokes like Manu, Carter, Smith and Matterson have already put pressure on some players.
If Guerra and Evans in particular , don't show a lot more than they did last year in the first 2 or 3 rounds, Robbo's got to act.
