Some threads on here are relating 9s form to whether a player starts or not. Im happy we won as well, but c'mon, 9s form is irrelevant to who starts for us in March. They may as well play touch footy tbh.

The game is in no way similar in attack or defence. Our fg 17 will be based on our trial games and previous NRL form. Not 9s.
Hey John...I disagree slightly, I think you get a reasonable guide with the 9s esp defensively.

It's harder to defend with less players on the field, your positioning and technique has a small margin for error. 13 a side there's some more safety in numbers, structured plays etc.

I understand there is a relativity argument with more attacking players to defend in 13 a side and that the games are taken more seriously and officiated much tighter (unfortunately).

But the 9s gives a guide and shouldn't be discounted.

I dont think you can play Carter at lock, I just dont think he is tall/big enough to play that hard core middle position. I dont doubt his toughness to be able to play in the middle but I think when you look at most other clubs middle forwards they are the tallest/biggest guys on the field & its just a mismatch & not fair having someone his size rumbling with the likes of Shannon Boyd, Junior Paulo, James Tamou, Sam McKendry, Trent Merrin & the Burgess brothers, . For me he has to play in the back row or he has to interchange with Jake.

Don't reckon he'll be in the 17 at all if Watson is going to be on the bench.

If the coaching staff show some kahooners & start Watson at FB then Carter will definitely be in the 17 IMO.

The mail Is Chris Smith is in front of Evans, a forward is a forward imo. I know that Robbo likes different body shapes but anyone that can carry the ball hard and own their space in defence is value.

I could be wrong but I don't think Watson at fullback will happen. Would be interesting to see how he goes there but cant see it happening.

Have to agree with you. After last year's experiment with untested fullbacks: Latrell and Fergo, I think Robbo will go with the safety first approach

robbo stated last year that watsons preferred position is 5/8. Axe did you happen to see the great pic of them post match ?

I like the idea of that if it is true.

I agree with you both but my personal preference would be Watson at FB.

Congrats Mickie, that post summed up one of the biggest problems with the modern game.

It might make all the stat men cream themselves, but it ain't rugby league.
