He has done this in the past but struggled last season.
    Agree with this.
Fergo was forming a great combination with SKD prior to last season.

But how do we know Fergo is on way too much money???
I assumed the club signed him on our terms.

We signed him expecting him to play fullback. I'm sure he had a contract upgrade. I would expect him to be on 600k give or take. Too much to be sitting out on the wing.

If Copley could improve his reads in defence he would be a handy player for us.

His tackling technique is pretty good.

I'm also tipping a big year from Tupou.
Born and bred in the eastern suburbs.

Pure speculation, but he was on $300k with the raiders.

I presume we signed him on minimum wage (which is now $82,500... woulda been roughly $80,000 when he signed).

I reckon he'd be on $300k (or around that mark) which is peanuts for a Kangaroo. I think Fergo would be on significantly less than what we were paying Jenko. I don't wanna get into comparing the two too much (Kangaroo centre v Kangaroo winger of course, clearly Jenko is the better attacking weapon - or is he when Fergo goes completely mental...?) but I think Fergo is more versitile. Try getting Jenko to play FB or on the wing... I think Fergo fills more gaps. Also, Fergo is a LOT taller than Jenko, so adds more to our aerial game.

We paid less for jenko after the panthers kicked in. Based purely on what both players have offered in roosters colours, jenko has played all over fergo. I'm not even a jenko fan boy. I won't tell you he was ultra consistent but in both attack and defence he offered a lot more. Even when he missed a tackle he had the lateral speed to turn and cut them down before the damage was fully done.

That would really surprise me if true, Massivechook.
We still had RTS, Maloney and Jenko when he re-signed, and he was supposedly on his last chance and needed a break and all.

I tried to clear this up by phoning the club and asking for his contract details.................but they wouldn't clue me in.

Jennings defence for us was out of this world . I always knew he was outstanding in attack but his defence really blew me away. I noticed even more last year with the turnstiles we had in the centres

I agree. Jennings defence was so strong and was the "Bondi Wall" defence in the backline that stopped so many tries in that great period of 2013-2015. Some of the tries he scored in that period were mind blowing that other players couldn't score, the 2013 GF match winner was amazing with so much determination and speed. I know he was a bit quiet in attack sometimes in 2015 yet I don't believe he gets the credit or recognition for how good he was in that golden period for us. We were rudderless in defence and attack without him last year.

I'm not 100% sure but I think he signed a contract extension when rts left with the expectation that he would play fullback. Latrell only got the call up at the very last minute before round 1.

Lol! I knew someone would mention that. Well let's just say it's better to have depth in case of injury.

I think it's interesting that so many people see this as a point of weakness & not a strength when it's a common trait displayed in so many of the best leaders.

Form is cyclical and temporary, something all humans experience. The pros of sticking solid to your staff based on their ability and not on a few bad days at work far outweighs any perceived gains that can be achieved by swapping them around for someone with less ability.

Wasn't Guerra dropped for a game or two towards the end of last season anyway?

Right but I don't think Tupou was ever that good to begin with and Guerra has really deteriorated as a player over the past 2 seasons.

These aren't form issues these are questions about their ability. Like I said form is something that comes and goes and is temporary, when it becomes a common occourence then by definition it's not a form issue.

I can understand the argument: player x isn't good enough to be playing First Grade and needs to be dropped. I've never understood the argument that players should be dropped on form.

I agree that Tupou and Guerra shouldn't be in the side but not because they're going through a bad trot.
