His best position is centre I reckon so you'd only pay him so much.

Problem is he wants to play fb or 5/8 because he knows thats where the big dollars are.

But you won't get the best of him in those positions imo. He'd make a great running 5/8 but only outside a Cronk or Thurston who'd allow Bird to focus on his strengths.

It annoys me to think our 2018 backline may still contain "Gumby" Toups & Rocks'n'Diamonds "SKD". We can ill afford carrying inconsistent performers like them two.
