Well there you go. I only remember him as a five-eighth playing alongside Stuart or coming off the bench as a utility. But as he wasn't much of a player, it's pretty easy to forget where he played. Out of curiosity where did Maguire play? Maybe he was the occasional half / utility and I'm confusing Bellamy for him?

We have a tonne of halves, many second rate, and/or not ready for FG.

We have an odd bunch of assistant coaches, Fitzy, Holbrook, king, johns, halligan, mini, etc. most specialist but you see what I mean.

A bunch of centres that are better wingers.

No towering props off the bench I.e. See Canberra.

And prob more signings to come via Bargains Bonanza.

BTW, I guess Fitzy is our forwards / and or conditioning coach, but do we have a defensive coach?
Interesting indeed. valid points raised about our coaching staff. I liken Holbrook to departed McNamara both unconvincing for me. I hope King brings something extra as we need it.Halligan obviously good for TKO goal kicking.Johns just a freeloader and punt rat with O'Sullivan etc. Not sure how much Mini is involved yet I just wish he doesn't become like Glenn Mcgrath who upon retirement could not stay out of the media. We seem the only club that grooms fullbacks via a ex player.

            No towering props is an interesting one given;

            Zane Tetevano is 186cm
            Eloni Vunakece is 187cm
            Paki Afu is 191cm
            Liam Knight is 191cm
            Kane Evans is 199cm

Not to mention our 2 starters are 193 and 194cm respectivley.

If anything for varieties sake I think we're missing a nugget in the Sam Moa mould.

              Good post.
True the guys you mentioned are tall, but will they be good damaging impact players to replace JWH & Napa. I hope so.
Teams can't afford to lose momentum when their starting props have a spell. More so now than ever with the reduced interchange.

Why do people continue to call our assistant coaches unconvincing when they have no idea what they do or don't add to the staff behind the scenes?

Is it, 'win a comp or finish minor prems' - great coaches!
Or 'miss the 8' - poor coaches!

                Very simplistic.

The love child of Jack Gibson and Wayne Bennett wouldn't have saved us last year after the off field drama and injury toll, on top of losing our 1, 6 and best defensive centre.

By all means criticise Robbo and the hierarchy for their recruitment/retention, but i don't see how anyone here has the insight to criticise the assistants.

                        Oh yeah..............Matt King............

                        Seems like a cool dude.
Reminds me a little of Terry Fahey for some reason.

I don't even know what his exact role will be under Trent, but I hope he has the ability to make team harmony improve.

Steve Mac was a great man and a good coach.
He was also part of at least 2 minor premierships at the club and does love the Roosters

I wish him all the best

PErhaps when someone attends fan day you could ask the role of each coach. Regrettable the club doesn't publish it
