Word is ( Jackson) he is highly despised in the Rooster camp. I'm hearing he has had 2 fights with players ( JWH is one). Roosters desperate to ship him to the Dragons. But Widdop has stated, he comes, I go....

      It's hard to know.
Jackson Hastings, if I was to believe what I have read on here that Jacko is on the outer with Friend & Robbo then I would think he will be released but if his contract is worth more than what any other club wants to pay or contribute towards then the Roosters will have no choice but to honour his contract even if it means he plays for Wyong. If he is on the outer Im surprised the Dragons havn't made a play for him especially since they need a halfback even though from what I heard from the commentators on grand final day the Dragons look like they are going to go with Drew Hutchinson. Parra need a halfback & if the Dogs release Licha & move Mbye to hooker they will also need a halfback. Pearce Keary & Watson seem to be ahead of him in the pecking order if you read into what Robbo said after they bought Keary.
When I think about him playing in 2015 when Pearce was injured I actually thought he played pretty good at halfback with Maloney at 5/8 but in 2016 when he suddenly was thrust into the team organiser role with a rookie 5/8 then a back rower playing 5/8 & the team not firing he seemed to then be on the outta which probably wasn’t fair but his attitude may have been the thing that put him on the outta.
I personally would like to see him stay & get a run at halfback with Pearce at 5/8 & see how he go’s but I think he will be realeased.

Jayden Nikorima, people with better footy knowledge than me feel he is a talent but I don’t. I think he is too small to play FG week in week out & especially in the front line, Im not sure what his best position is but I read that he feels his best position is coming off the bench as an impact player but that position is going to go to Watson from what I am lead to believe. He has another 2 years to run on his contract & he is only young so I suppose he could play NYC or for Wyong next year but I don’t know what the future holds for him. If they release Hastings & then Pearce, Keary or Watson get injured is he next in line?
If it was up to me I would release him & keep Hastings but I think the Roosters will release Hastings & persist with Nikorima.
They were going to make a play for him but then the last time we played the Dragons before the semis in 20's, Hastings by all reports abused and argued with the opposition players, his own team mates and the crowd all game. After watching this Gareth Widdop told the club he would be requesting a release if the Dragons signed Hastings. It's telling that the 20's struggled in the last few rounds with Hastings in the team, but went on to win the premiership without him.

And there I was thinking Boogie was Mitchell Pearce. G'Day Doghumper, how's your old man? Still a better player than you'll ever be?

Sure, he didn't perform this year but there was plenty going on at Easts at the time. And if the captain wouldn't give him the ball did he really get a fair go? Now, he may be a d*ckhead, I wouldn't know because I have never met him, but he certainly can play football. I expect that he will become one of the top halves in the game in the next 3-4 years. He will play a lot of first grade in his career. Interestingly, he may never play rep footy because young Cleary seems destined for stardom but give him time and he will mature into a classy halfback.
Sometimes I do get a bit reticent when it comes to airing any opinions on Hastings jnr.
Partly I think I'm too biased because I really wanted him to succeed here because of the respect I still have for his old man.

But like yourself I've never met him and don't want to cast judgement on his behaviour/attitude without knowing the real situation.
As a player, I think he has a lot of potential and don't buy into the "he's too slow for a half " argument.
Sure he disappointed us this year, but in a sane set up he should have only advanced to reserve grade under Maloney and Pearce.

But even if we assume that he's an arrogant bad influence or whatever, ..................bottom line is our captain carried this resentment onto the field.
          That's a big worry.

Did you see the photos of him on Instagram with the GF trophy IN FULL PLAYING KIT. You would have thought he was on the field and played the game. Seriously who does that!

I heard the last bit as well, but didn't hear which player from the Dragons protested.
Hasting has some endearing qualities but is completely mad. Like a kid that has been brought up without discipline

Widd is a tossed, he complains about any young half for fear of being shown up, they have lost 2 promising blokes because of him and Hutchinson will be next

I don't get why this has been allowed to continue for so long - why can't Jacko and Friendie just have a beer over the off-season and get the fark over it?

Whatever happened, it's DEFINITELY NOT serious enough that a junior player (who was our #1 goal kicker in 2016) should be sidelined because the captain has a personal grudge against him. I respect Friendie, but WTF?

IMO we need a new captain who can sort this sh*t out and move on.

At my workplace, if a manager's a d!ckhead to you then it's treated seriously. For example when I started out, my project manager was a short, fat Asian dude. We first met during a friendly Thursday lunch basketball game. He picked a rigged team that he thought would smash the juniors, but we had an alright team (some local 16 y/o Sudanese guy joined in, I'm a solid tactician/all-round athlete and the others just had to play along). He got REALLY mad about losing every Thursday (he had lotsa yes men within the system who thought that by helping him win their careers would blossom). He cold faced me at work, gave really sh*t reports about me to others and tried to ruin my career. His yes men all blamed me for being 'rude' to him during basketball (I'm just cheeky and a ruthless competitor). Somebody picked up on his behaviour and his next contract wasn't extended. A new manager (chilled Aussie bloke who likes his footy) replaced him and this inadvertently led to my career taking off (while all the yes men got frustrated and moved sideways).

Leadership comes from the top down. I reckon Friend's gotta sort this one out before 2017 or be stripped of his captaincy for somebody who can sort it out.

Unfortunately, Hastings appears to have taken the role of the short fat Asian dude in your analogy

Hastings is a real enigma, a personality that exudes bad feelings within teams, has no respect at all from his team mates, and apparently is the only one who thinks he has any real talent. Apart from that in my opinion he lacks the pace to be a first grade halfback, or a 5/8th. But in saying all that, I have seen a lot of players with less ability have long and successful careers, being solid first graders.

Melbourne Storm is a perfect fit for him, with Cronk closing down his career, and not sure what is happening with their current 5/8th, but Bellamy is such a strong minded coach, he does not suffer fools or trouble makers at all, it would be Hastings last chance to ever become a regular first grade player, or end his career at all in the NRL, and be shunted to bush football, personally I don't think too much of his ability, but if it can be improved under Bellamy, I hope it can happen for the respect I hold for his father Kevin, my second favourite player behind Artie, Kevin shed blood for this club, and never played a bad game for us, a very underated player indeed.

Ok, so by these reports, Jacko is problematic. Is he able to sort out these issues to remain here, or is it too late and he has to be moved on?

lol JISM your stories are so random.

I think Hastings is just a wanker who the whole team dislikes. Or at least most of it, it's not up to Friend to make sure everyone gets along he's a captain of a footy team not a kindergarten teacher.

Melbourne seems like the best place for Hastings.

Its so much more than Hastings V Friend. As I mentioned he def has some endearing qualities but then he goes off and does some real dumb shit. It may or may not make you dislike him but it definitely has peoples heads shaking thinking that that sort of behaviour is just not needed. He would need to be a one in a generation player to play first grade consistently with the low levels of maturity that he has
