    Yes indeed - well said.

The implication that depression = hypochondria truly is the thinnest end of the flimsiest wedge.

For many people genetics and environment contribute to a point whereby they wake up one day and THUD - they're in a black hole that often ends with serious consequences.

Begs the question, apart from playing for the Roosters as your first choice, if you were an up and coming player, what clubs would you consider graveyards or at the very least unfavourable?
For mine both Canberra and GC would fit that bill.

Unfavourable to what? Playing Park football? He'd have signed anywhere that would have taken him. As would all the kids.

Us on here love the Roosters & would want to play for them but an up & coming footy player if given the opportunity would play for any club in the NRL. I would say that over the next couple of years the GC & Canberra have a better opportunity of winning the comp than our beloved Roosters.

Depression isn't a fad there's just a lot more awareness around it now and there's definitely over-diagnosis there's no doubt about that, research has proven that but given the sensitive nature of the topic the discussion needs to be held in a mature manner than labeling people cop outs and labeling a disease as a fad.

I know it's just ignorance on PWN's part and I'm sure he meant no malice in his comments but it's unfortunately a pretty realistic reflection of a small but loud part of society's attitude towards depression at the moment.

You can't underestimate the effect of depression and its always better to be safe than sorry. I have known people that have needed help (thankfully most of them got it) but I have know people that just needed a kick up the arse too. I think PWN's comment was more to do with the racism shit.

But any way my original point was not down playing depression just saying the kid wasn't depressed he had just had enough of playing football.

It's a serious condition that can cripple you for no reason.

My comment is in regards to the many people that "claim" they have depression when in fact they do not, it is the easy way out for many, which is not fair to the legitimate sufferers of this condition.

NOt correct, i know many people who have depression and it is terrible, i also know people that "claim" they have depression when in fact it is more the fat they can not and will not take responsibility for their actions, shit i do and say dumb things, but i do not claim depression as the reason, these are the people that unfortunately make the condition a fad
