This will end in tears on some level.
I'd be tempted to ditch Pearce, and if Friend spits the dummy we'd know a lot more about his character.
But.............Robbo is the one who knows the true story behind all this scuttlebut, and he's the bloke who has to take responsibility for any outcome.
I'm back to TIT , I guess.
Hate to lose any of Watson, Matterson or Nikorima at this stage, cos it's too early to make a call.
Hastings has a lot of plus sides to his game, and it's possible he hasn't been given a fair go.
But I don't know the whole story.

Is it just me, or does Hastings a lot of the time look slow and clunky and more like a 30 year old than a 20 year old? His only attacking weapon seems to be a kick and some of those aren't that great. And some of his last play decision leave me grinding my teeth.
I would keep Pearce. Punting him and keeping Hastings would probably make Hastings more unpopular with the playing group than he apparently already is, which is not an ideal situation going forward. Like it or not, Pearce has plenty of support within the playing roster and Robbo seems to have a high opinion of the bloke.Supporting the RW&B, through good times and bad times.

This is a really tough one. And I am torn.
At the moment Hastings looks slow and cumbersome. I do not see a star of the future. But he's been playing with inexperienced halves all year and he's only 20 years old. The rumours of him being a difficult personality which rubs otherss the wrong way is also concerning. My philosophy is the world is made up of all sorts of personalities and people should just accept everyone for who they are - I hate people being ostracised for being so called 'different'. But the majority of poeple don't think like me and quirky / arrogant personalities have a tendency to upset team harmony.
On the other hand we have Pearce. He is the better player now because he has years of experience behind him. And then we have his off field record. The temptation is to cut Pearce and go with a Hastings / Keary combo because Keary, while not as experienced as Pearce, does have the expereince to make up for any experience Hastings lacks. But we let Jimmy go to gamble on the future and look where that has left us. Should we make the same gamble again and let Pearce go for Hastings as well?
I think Robbo will keep Pearce because he is very loyal to him and after the disaster of this year he won't want a repeat performance next year. I think Hastings will end up back at the Merge.

+1. Pearce the safest he has ever been and it has nothing to do with loyalty. As someone else mentioned, if Hastings had a different surname we wouldn't even be having the debate.
