  • Pearce or Hastings

I think one of them definitely has to go. I can't see the Roosters letting Pearce go.

With Pearce and Keary we will have 2 premiership winning halves.

I believe both Jr Jr and Hastings are contracted till the end of 2017.

So between Hastings & Pearce, Who will be given a polite shove onto Spring Street?

I still think Nikorima will develop into a very good half-back if given the chance.

Unfortunately, we will obviously not be able to retain all of our young guns on the up & up.

Nikorima , Hastings, Watson, Matto ,, etc.

If we stick with Pearce & Keary for the long term, we will lose youngsters.

If we chase Moses for example, Pearce is gone also.

I'm sure the club has a plan for 2017. And a plan for 2018 & beyond.

Short term success = Pearce, long term success = Hastings.
Footy is in the now, rather than in the future - this is just a fact, like it or not.
Best example of this is the Maloney release.
So I reluctantly say it is Pearce for me ..:

pearce like jimmy has too much big time experience to give to another club. Hastings although keen and capable is much too kick happy for my likes i prefer the running game of pearce and his monsterr high kicks and deep long kicks

For me it's a no-brainer to stick with Pearce

An important thing is that Pearce has a good bond with his teammates; many of this side have played together for the last 5-10 years. If rumours are to be true that Hastings isn't particularly liked or respected by other teammates, it will be difficult for him as a young halfback to command the respect needed to control the side around. Pearce on the other hand appears to have the total trust of the team. This side has had Pearce directing it around for the last three seasons, and is (despite debate over the issue) a key reason for our recent success. Also he is only 27 and still has another 6-7 years ahead of him assuming he can stay fit. For me that is long-term.

So I'd keep Pearce at the helm.

For current team balance and experience Pearce. Would also really like to keep nikorima and use him as a sub for friend.

Hastings has to go. Pearce is a far superior player at this stage of their respective careers. I would let Nikorima go as well and keep Watson and Matterson as utilities/depth.

I'd like Hastings gone. It's well publicised he's not liked.

                          Keep Pearce, of course.

I think both he and Keary have the potential to develop into a very good combo.

Watson can already do that role 3 times better than Nikorima.

I've got nothing particular against Nikorima, but i really question his temprament in the top grade. He went public weeks ago admitting he had been rattled by the experience, and on the field he looked very much the deer in the headlights.

Compare this to Watson who has been confident, strong and quicker.

12 months ago, I'd have kicked Pearce and kept Hastings, mainly because we still had Maloney. Without Jimmy though Pearce is the choice.

It would be nice if someone in the club had the ability to straighten out bad attitudes amongst players. Building a lasting club wide professional mentality seems to be something we are incapable of doing for anything more than a year or 2 at a time
