Robbo labeled it as "adversity" and moved on quickly in the presser.

I prefer the technique he used following the Dragons game.

I'm no ref but I believe defenders have to have both feet on the line.

It was very clear he decided he was going to look for SKD to be offside and no other player on the field. The result was 3 inside the 10 penalties on SKD. One was definitely justified, but the coverage (controlled by Sky TV in NZ) didn't show the others. In fact, they didn't show a single replay that that might indicate a penalty wasn't justified, including the very obvious high shot on Tupou in our in goal.

When defending the line like that no that one step will see you almost on the attacks faces as the picture shows The next thong is to balance up and be able to make a tackle if need beIt is not hard to get a grip on this

He can be a bit of a hometown ref Mr Maxwell, which I don't mind as long as it's reciprocated when it's our turn but rarely is.

Lets just agree to disagree. Point is, I wasn't watching a 7 penalty differential game. That's not to say the penalties we conceded weren't warranted, but our opposition aren't noted for their discipline and in Maxwell's eye played a near flawless game penalty wise.

That's just not nice. And I have always been so kind to you.

At least now I know where an expert on the rules lies in case I have any queries.

No wonder you aren't a referee. How can you sit there and say our team deserved "half-a-dozen discretionary penalties" when you don't even know a law as basic as this?

Thanks for your input. It's always appreciated.

That was based upon a comment from someone I sat with at the game who is more studied in the rules than, alas, me.

Amazing the last 3 weeks the Warriors gave away 10 , 7 , and 6 penalties but could only give away 3 against us....

The actual rule states that the defenders cannot advance until the ball has cleared the ruck. The NZ players would have to be extremely quick to move forward well over a metre before Watson even had time to put his hands on the ball.

Difficult to know, but I would like to know what percentage of offside penalties we have received in the past few years compared to our overall penalties received. It would be very low I would think. Other teams just never seem to get pinged for offside against us.

That said, we are our worst enemies at the moment.
