if you count the Eels as a top 8 side as they haven't officially been stripped of their points yet we play 12 games against current top 8 sides in the run home.

only matches against non top 8 sides is Warriors in NZ and Tigers.

a crappy season could get a whole lot worse if Robbo can't get some motivation and pride back into this team.

Based on last night's performance things are about to get really ugly.

The top 8 is not a good recognition of what a good team is, yes brisbane, cows, melb, sharks are genuine, but with raiders, dragons and dogs occupying spots in there, it means there is plenty of crap there too. And to think the NRL is thinking of expansion is a joke. Let's spread the scarce talent even thinner and we will watch more matches such as the dragons-raiders game and our rubbish game last night.

If we are 80% committed and focused, we wouldn't have a problem 3/4 of the teams in the comp.

        Of course.
        The draw...another joke.

Every team should play every other team in the comp once [home game year about].
Then, for the rest of the season teams should be divided into two groups ... as they stood on the ladder at the end of the previous season's minor premiership ...1 3 5 7 9 11 13 15 and 2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16

with a nationally televised barrel draw done to determine the make-up of the remaining rounds.

        1 starts.
Card with 1 on it is held up...then a number from the other group is drawn out if the lottery barrel...electronically...say no 8 is drawn...then 1 plays 8.

Card with 3 on it is held up...etc.

        Or something like that.
The current draw system leaves itself open to allegations.

We don't have Origin players in NZ either.

              What about Canberra.

They play each of last years top four teams (Cowboys, Broncos, Roosters and Storm) just once.

Of those four clashes three of them are at home including the Cowboys in Round 18 without their Origin players, and the Roosters in Round 2 without Pearce, Cordner and Waerea-Hargreaves, whilst they play all of last years bottom six teams (Knights, Tigers, Titans, Warriors, Eels and Panthers) twice.

Bit tough on raiders there, not their fault pearce was a tool over the off season, and that we had injuries, they played the start of the season without their halves also, and had a player sent to the bin v us.

They are not a drawcard team for tv, or for the opposing teams, so they are not a preference in the ballot system for choosing which team you would prefer to play. Cows and broncs would have them low on their list of preferred teams to play, as they do nothing for crowd numbes up their.

I always thought that without a proper home and away season where each team plays each other twice, that a fair way to do the draw would be that the top 8 from the previous year plays eachother twice, and the bottom 8 once. Would give a nice 22rounds with allowance for stand alone origin rounds.

Their draw is ridiculously easy. They should finish top four with that draw.

And if we win the majority of those games, then we will leapfrog those teams, therefore giving us a better chance to make the 8!!!

Do you all think we should play Newcastle each week?

We have already been beaten by

                              7th
                              8th
                              9th
                              10th
                              11th
                              12th
                              and
                              13th

It's only fair that we have to play the top teams too....
