In negative news, Latrell was even worse than I thought. A complete shocker.
Kane Evans also killed us with some bone headed mistakes.
Also not understanding the Connor Watson hype. He puts in two very selfish chip kicks for himself when we are on the attack that go straight to Saints.
The ironic thing about the Connor Watson kicks was that if he stays how like the St George cats he would've received penalties on both occasions. The first one Tyson Frizell changes his line to body check him. Watson basically flipped over him and got straight back up and took chase. The second Taane Milne (or as senile old Rabs insisted on pronouncing it, Millen??) coathangers him, far worse than the Dugan or Widdop penalties. Again he shook it straight off to chase the ball.
What I really liked about Watson was that he plays right to the line. And he's so fast before the line that he had acres of space every time he ran. The best ball players have great tempo and can play fast early to make the line stop to defend the run but then they have the ability to slow before the line and pick up a runner. This is how he created the break for Cordner. Played fast at the line and shaped inside, nice veer towards the B defender and double pumped early to really sell the run and threw a nice soft pass to Boyd on a beautiful unders line. He also knows dummy half play quite well. He was the one that set up the Burgess break down the left, that would have been a try for Watson had Burgess not been ankle tapped by McCrone. He engaged the marker perfectly which created the extra man. And ran great support too which is a big feature to his game. But again, he's another young kid and he'll probably make the odd mistake trying too hard and miss a few tackles on big forwards because of his size. So we just have to stick it out and realise that we're building to something with these guys.
