Just a bullshit article, just speculation without any substance.

We are linked to Coote, and every player available. It just happens that Coote is the most high profile current NRL player on the market.

Sonny Bill Williams appears to have played his last NRL game, the dual international set to extend his stay in the 15-a-side code despite ongoing overtures from the Sydney Roosters.
Williams helped lead the Roosters to the 2013 premiership in his return to rugby league after six seasons away and Tricolours supremo Nick Politis is keen on luring the Rugby World Cup winner back to the NRL next year.
However, reports emerged late on Wednesday that the big money on offer in French and European rugby and with the All Blacks will keep Williams in rugby beyond this year when his current contract ends.
Williams will compete at the Rio Olympics later this year in the debut of rugby sevens at the Games.
But the Roosters had kept the door open for him to return to the club next season.
The Roosters are said to be around $600,000 under the salary cap this year after losing a number of stars in Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, Michael Jennings and James Maloney. That money could be used as a sign-on fee to lure Williams back.
However, the 30-year-old Williams is said to view his future with rugby.
That would result in the Roosters missing out on two of their main recruitment targets in Williams and Jarryd Hayne. Former Parramatta captain Hayne is determined to continue to chase his NFL dream. But he said earlier this year if he ever returned to the NRL, it would only be with the Eels.
The Roosters might have already realised they needed to turn their attention elsewhere: North Queensland premiership-winning fullback Lachlan Coote has reportedly been offered a four-year deal to join Trent Robinson's side from next season.

I think this story is more of a wake up call to Greenberg and the NRL to assist in what they can do in order to bring SBW back to the game. It was Greenberg who did void Falou's deal back in 2013 with the Eels, and yet they did learn a lesson after that but seems like the same thing could occur here.

I see it as a call for help to the NRL to get off your backsides and bring back our stars as you so desperately need them!!!

Wouldn't mind it if we could pay him a $1.5 million dollar contract with the NRL's warchest helping out + only pay $300k (with the rest being 3rd party deals). Oh wait - only Souffs are allowed to do that.

I am not convinced SBW was ever a target. We already have a decent forward pack, big money spent on Cordner and JWH, and the likes of SST and Napa will soon need significant upgrades.

I can't see SBW making any decision till after the olympics.
This supposed news is just some bloke making a lot of assumptions.
We all know there's more money to be had in yawnion.

NRL have not and will not use their war chest on any player. I think we should avoid big money buys like SBW and concentrate on a spine player and another two NRL level forwards for depth. Let's not make the same mistake as Souths. They put all their eggs in one basket in chasing Sam Burgess and lost a host of good NRL players to fit him in, they are now suffering for lack of depth and jealousy. Let's stick to a youth policy and buy in a few goodies.

Time to give up on that guy. He is not going to remain a champion rugby league player for the rest of his life. We'd be in danger of him becoming our Sam Burgess.

The amount of quality players we've shod chasing ghosts like SBW /Hayne is unbelievable, every time Maloney streaks over for a try or converts in cronulla colours my heart breaks a bit more.

Nothing suprising that SBW isnt coming.

SBW has no loyalty to any team or club

Great athlete, but his LACK of committment to any one club through thick and thin will mean he will leave NO LEGACY in any sport once he retires.

Im no fan because SBW is not someone you can build a team or culture around.

Here one minute gone the next. Suits a transit lounge.

Him and his selfish greedy manager are birds of a feather. Its just the positive media exposure that fools everyone into not seeing what SBW and his contracts really are.

People highlight his humilty but you can equally focus on his selfish attitude

Politis's hopes have now set us back dramatically. We cleared the decks for some big signings that havent eventuated.

And with the poor form at the moment it will now take overs to lure others to the club
