A mercenary if there ever was one. He just uses sport for money and to fulfill his own goals.

Great athlete no doubt, but his lack of committment to any one club through thick and thin will mean he will leave no legacy in any sport once he retires.

Im no fan. SBW is not someone you can build a team or culture around. Here one minute gone the next. Suits a transit lounge.

Give me a Fitzgibbon, Mini even an understated non rep player like Hornby or a Patten anyday over brand SBW.

Him and his selfish greedy manager are birds of a feather. Its just the positive media exposure that fools everyone into not seeing what SBW and his contracts really are.

    Yer thats fair enough.

He does do all those things you have posted but whilst he is contracted to who ever he puts in 100% for that company & lifts the whole environment of the place something only a very few players can do.

If Hayne does return I don't think it will be to us. Parramatta will stump up enough for 2017 to get him back. What now will b lucky to get thru this season let alone next, there's 700 and they'll flick Gordon 200. There's 900 for 2017 and the cap will increase 2.5-3m extra for 2018. They will b in a position to give him 1.5 for 18 if they have to.

Hardly. There's only one SBW. Some on here have short memories.

What now is contracted to the end 2018. Unlikely another club will touch him. Norman is off contract and will demand a pay increase. Reported to be currently on 500k a year. Bidding will start at 700k for Corey who is in career best form.

Foran, Jennings also on mega bucks. They'll struggle to sign Hayne imo.

I'd take Teo from those mentioned. JWH needs some help!

Yeah I wouldn't mind Teo at all as well, has that bit of aggro X factor that LOD provided in 2013 and he's a more damaging runner than LOD ever was.

I'd take SBW in a heartbeat but prefer him in a mentor/ forwards coaching role.

Yeh I know mate, but the chances are he will call it quits, and I reckon parra will happily pay him out to get him off the books especially if Hayne lets it be known he's available for a return. Doesn't count toward the cap.

I'm not sure how loving yourself is relevant to caring about others, or in this case other things. The two are not mutually exclusive, in fact depending on your philosophy one can't be achieved without the other.

I think the mercenary story line is the easy, obvious assumption made by many. I see him as a bloke who knows how to motivate himself and that's by consistently changing his surroundings and finding new challenges. Whether that's a change in sport or club it doesn't seem to matter, and if it was all about the money then he'd be off playing Union in France.

Jack Gibson didn't have an all to different outlook on challenges and motivations yet his legacy at our club will live for centuries to come.

Undoubtedly, the easy option would have been to get released and rebuild his career elsewhere out of the spotlight, out of all the scrutiny.

He's really not, for the right price he'd be a handy pick up but his role in South Sydney's game has been continually embelished since he left. Reality is he was an average attacking player, brilliant defender. There's no doubting his impact on Souths title push but it was never because of his attack. It was his intimidation and hitting power.

I'd rate Joel Thompson ahead of Ben Teo.

$600K wouldn't go close to securing either of those players. SBW would be an $800K+ player, and Hayne $1 million minimum.

I would normally say Hayne over any player, but the leadership of SBW to would certainly help a lot with a pool of youngsters coming through. Mind you, his influence isn't guaranteed as 2014 showed
