    What? Simulation? Seriously, what?

Putting peanut butter on your balls with the intention of getting a dog to lick it off and then said dog actually licking the peanut butter isn't ****ing simulation.

You've got to be trolling now...

Was Joel Monaghan actually deregistered by the NRL? I thought he made the decision to head overseas to get out of the spotlight and start anew, not because he was deregistered. There is a difference between making a personal choice regarding your future and being forced out.
Supporting the RW&B, through good times and bad times.

The two incidents are not even remotely related. As someone else said, the worst thing that happened was Pearce kissing the girl when she asked him to leave. But even then it was at the very minor end the spectrum and she obviously didn't care enough to make a deal of it. Any punishment must come internally from the chooks and not the nrl.

No the NRL never actually handed down any punishment but it looked like he would sit out the 2011 season without pay had he stayed in the NRL.

I just listened to his press conference.

I admire him for having the courage to say what he did. I wish him the best in dealing with his demons. After hearing him speak, I feel he has a good chance to overcome them. Takes a man to take accountability; even more so to do it publically.

We should not burn him at the stake but IF the club does not sack him for this instance, they should ensure he is sacked for any subsequent infringement. As stated previously, I trust Trent's judgment and higher order thinking.

How about just not renewing his contract as we can do better?

To me it's that simple regardless of any behavioural issues.

If the powers that be decide to keep Pearce here. I'll support him. But I'll also support SoH and Niko and cheer them on. If Roosters feel they need to recruit to replace Pearce, so be it. I'm not as emotionally attached to Pearce as much as other players like Kane, SST, Lawn and JWH.

I don't think we can do better at the moment.

The journos have plenty of other garbage to report at this time of the year that no one cares about Pearce and yesterday's news. No one has suggested he will return to play round 1. But I'm positive the PR team always intended to bring him back at this point. A 30 day stint in rehab, probably sufficient to the general public. Obviously not enough time to achieve any real outcomes other than a detox. I hope he has his shit together because our roster is much stronger with him here. I'm just sick of the **** ups and the headlines that surround our club.

More sick of the nrl who have zero consistency or credibility in punishing offenders.
In not sure of your point here in regards to Pearce coming back after 30 days of rehab.

I doubt Pearce is an alcoholic. He is one of those that when he drinks and gets intoxicated, loses the ability to make good decisions. So rather than going through the long process of withdrawals, this rehab would have been more about education. And convincing him he is better off not drinking at all.
So how long should that Course be? Maybe it is only a month?
I'm not defending Pearce. I think he is a bloody idiot. And I will back whatever course of action Robbo and Politis choose. But he had to return sometime. And maybe, just maybe, he has returned at the completion of his Course. There is nothing wrong with that no matter what it coincides with.

I will say this about Pearce. He needs to come out and advise everyone he has finally realised that he can't handle alcohol. And that he will no longer touch it. I'm not convinced he has the maturity to do that though.

You don't really believe that do you? When assessing all the options he had I'm sure they were checking the dates for when the season started. In my opinion if he had a problem that warranted going to rehab it wouldn't have been a 30 day stint in Thailand. He didn't need to go to a residential facility for psycho-education as you suggest. Pearce binge drinks like a lot of people his age who don't have his profile and therefore don't have to deal with the media. He doesn't deserve to be crucified for his offence but I just think this whole thing was a PR exercise to satisfy the moral police.

30 days is the maximum tourist visa for thailand - sure the chiang mai rehab may have been able to swing a renewable 30 day visa without him having to leave.

I watched the interview being replayed on Sky this afternoon. I know now what I saw.

                              This:

                              SUPER DRAGON!

To those who are having a sook about the right to have an opinion, others also have the right to have the opinion to say that they think your opinion is garbage. Outside of racial vilification and threats of violence, anyone can say whatever the f**k they want as long as it abides by the forum t&c's.

I think the moral crusaders need to take a step back and take a straightforward look at the incident for what it was - immature behaviour whilst on the drink. No one was assaulted, no one was sexually abused (to those who say the dog was, are you serious??) and no one but Mitchell was vilified during the entire episode.

As captain of the club he exhibited behaviour which reflected badly on Mitchell as an individual, but ultimately he committed no crime whatsoever. The punishment should therefore be left in the hands of the club, and given the nature of what happened, being stripped of the captaincy and wearing an in-house suspension of several games will more than suffice.

I agree that he cannot handle his alcohol, but once again - he committed no crime.

Therefore, the crux of the matter is that it SHOULD be entirely at the discretion of the Roosters professional coaching staff as to whether or not his behavior/bad habits cause an unacceptable risk to his ability to play first grade football to his best ability. End of story.

To those moralising, give us a break. Give us a break.
