I have no idea but do people think Pearce is an alcoholic or just a dickhead that wants to be on the piss as often as possible?
I'll take option B than Eddie

interesting that not one Roosters employee was there for support.

clearly a broken man at the moment, he will get the help if he wants it, that is the main issue does he truly want to change.

nothing I saw today changes my mind about thinking the club should ensure he gets the help he needs and send him on his way.

Can you please remind me of any other player who has admitted he has a problem in a public press conference and walked away from answering any questions????? Carney never did, Ferguson or Dugan never did. Neither did Reni Matuia and look how close he came to killing himself. Yeah I do believe that he will get help and yet we can't cut him off until the investigation has been completed and the other parties responsible come forward for sending that video out!!!

First time we agree TDK. I don't cry over missed grand final opportunities but I do get mighty upset when I see someone with serious issues shamed on a very public stage.

Personally, I would prefer that he said nothing and just goes away and does something else for work for the rest of his life.

His admission of his problem was brave however it is more important what he does about his drinking problem or alcoholism. The club is in a very precarious position in the days of political correctness extremism - i add that the stereo type of easy going australian is a thing of the past.australia a land over governed over ruled occupied by the thought police.
Should the club sack Pearce then they too are in the firing line from all those with moralistic pc opinions living in a nanny state.

If I was him I would take the decision out of the club's hands and step down. In my opinion that would be the honorable thing to do. His career is not over. He can and will come back from this eventually but it won't be any time soon in my opinion. He is going to be suspended anyway so imo he should be proactive in accepting the consequences and this would ultimately allow people to forgive and forget faster.

Also, in regards to alcohol, abstaining may not be so simple and easy. Whatever restrictions are placed on him will place him under enormous pressure, even more so if he is not really an alcoholic but more a guys that enjoys the piss more than is good for him.

find it hard to have compassion for a guy who was thrown in a cab by a club official to go home and sleep off an already big day/night who turns around and takes multiple younger new members of the first grade squad out for a continuation of the bender against club direction.

most of us would have seen the as yet unverified text messages surfacing, on the back of that I hope the club blood/hair tests every member of the squad that was out that night and if any of them fail a drug test kick them out of the club.

I'm sick of so called professional athletes who are getting paid huge amounts of money to play sport for a living not being able to look after their bodies so they perform at the highest level, that doesn't mean they can't go out and have a few beers if they want, but it does mean that they can't continue to go out and have massive benders and ignore recovery and club rules.

I concur. You wouldn't be human if you didn't feel for the young man. If he wants a happy life he must give up alcohol forever.

I hope everyone who saw today's short presser is also able to watch his 'apology' from 2014 in hindsight.

Huge differences in his body language and demeanour, no accountability in 2014, total accountability today.

                          I wish him luck.

there is screenshots of a series of conversations indicating they were the people who filmed the Pearce incident, that are currently unverified, it wouldn't be too hard to verify them because they mention names of supposed people at the private party.

they also hint that Pearce other players were on more than alcohol that night.

of course the text messages could be fraudulent, the two ways to verify them is to either drug test the players or talk to the residents of the apartment of the private party.

agree they are probably fake, but unfortunately given the circumstances the club must investigate the claims.

Well if this is verified this thing just went to a whole new level. We could be the 2016 version of the Gold Coast Titans. They should certainly be tested.
