I tried to give Mitchell Pearce the benefit of the doubt, even with my obvious bias against him, but that was the press conference of a person who was caught doing what he did. Would he have done that if there had been no video?

He may be remorseful, and a kid and truly sorry. However, it still does not cut how a professional athlete should be behaving - especially 2 weeks out from the NRL 9s. This is not even taking into account the fact he is the club captain.
I still stand by what I said previously, sack him but still help him. Put him through rehab, get him a 9-5 job and keep him out of the game for a minimum 12 months. See how he progresses and then make a decision. He is only 26, technically he could comeback at 28 and still have a good 4 years in front of him.
Or he could come back and never be the same again and his career would be completely over.
Either way, its all down to his mistakes. He made the bed, he needs to lie in it.
If he has been caught taking/dealing/being involved in any shape or form of recreational drugs, then just sack him immediately and give him a 2 year ban. He doesn't deserve to be at this club regardless of how sorry he is or how old he is. Recreational drugs are illegal and there is no 2 ways about it regardless of age.

I was of the opinion defamation had to be about an individual or small group? Anyway, comment has been removed by admin and I apologise if anyone was offended. For the record, comment was not unsubstantiated.Last edited by Waerea-Beast!; 01-29-2016, 05:51 PM.

It's been posted to Social Media already. Search for "NRL Zero Fuks Given" on Facebook.
The guy should donate the 60k to charity, if it's him.
