I have a recollection of Gus resting half the team for the final game because the result had no consequence for the following weeks semi finals. But the NRL came down hard on this and in the end he had to put them all back in at the last minute !

Resting players to the possibly have the entire team rested in week two of the finals and play one match in 3 weeks heading in to a grand final qualifier is not particularly handy. We only have to win in week one of the finals for everybody to have a week off in the finals. I don't know what you are talking about regarding red bars.

Will be interesting to see if broncos rest players on Thursday considering they have wrapped up a top 2 finish themselves. If they do and they lose on Thursday, we will go into Friday's game with the minor premiership already wrapped up.
