The safety of our players is no light matter and I support the NRL and all sporting governing bodies for attempting to provide a safer game for all. I suggest that people who long for the good old days should read the article about I believe it was Shontayne Hape who suffered numerous concussions throughout his career and is now suffering for it in his post playing career. It is a very serious issue and yes unfortunately there are players and coaches who will take advantage of the concern for player safety to feign injury for their own game but we can't allow this minority to halt progress on player safety.

It was an embarrassing dive and whilst they didn't get a penalty it still got them the ball back.

I couldn't believe it when the ref gave him the ball back.

I think you will find that the major lawsuit that the NFL is facing has to do with the body not disclosing research information they had, with the players.

Indeed but that's not the point.

If concussions are still happening even with helmets then they're obviously not a solution.

The rule for shoulder charges was fine before the NRL panicked over a couple of headlines... The shoulder charge was still illegal and suspension were there for any head contact only.

It will be open slather in the grand final for shoulder charges. They can't send you off for one, so bang bang away, and serve the suspension in the off season. At least we will see a real game on the last game of the year.
