  • Breaking news - Oztag

The NRL will introduce tags for players to attach to their shorts - ala Oztag style- for player safety. David Smith is ruining the game of Rugby League. Nobody knows what constitutes a shoulder charge so all players from now on will be playing Oz tag rules for player safety.

What a joke it is becoming. In yesterday's game, the referee stopped the game when we had the ball when a Parramatta player went down due to player safety. You run hard, defenders get skittled and they stop the game.

From now on, if any team makes a break, go down and yell out 'player safety', and they will stop the game.

It's farked making changes this far into the season.Players need time to get their heads around these things without it effecting their performance through the fear of getting it wrong.

We'll be lucky not to lose one of our hard men.

The funny thing about that is the parra player tried to get up and his team mates pushed him back down and what looked like a conscious un injured player now looked like a player almost out to it
The Internet is a place for posting silly things
Try and be serious and you will look stupid

Spot on, even the commentators alluded to that. He lost the ball no penalty, should have been an easts scrum with the feed. No action taken WTF, ref ruled he lost the ball after the tackle was made,
          total bullshit.

Can some one please tell me why if the NRL are so concerned about players safety and head injuries why they haven't enforced mandatory headgear like the ones Thurston and Soward wear, you would have thought that would have been their first point of call.

Warren Smith said his shoulder hit his head. Not on any of the shots I saw.

It was an embarrassing dive and whilst they didn't get a penalty it still got them the ball back.

Head gear only helps lacerations and gives the player a little extra confidence.

That crook Mitch Ross that supplied Souffs with the ice chips and performance sprays whilst not being registered by the NRL was busted in the US for trying to flog some magical headgear.

                  Google his name.

It makes for some interesting reading.

                    Because they don't do anything.

The whole reason the crackdown on safety happened was the lawsuits that had been taken out against the NFL about concussions. They wear helmets.

I think you will find that the major lawsuit that the NFL is facing has to do with the body not disclosing research information they had, with the players.

Head knocks will happen. You wont be able to stop it. You're asking grown men to run into each other at full speed for 80minutes every week.

In all fairness to David Smith, I think it's society and diminished personal responsibility that is driving these changes.

Watch for attacking players changing direction to collide with defenders' shoulders soon. Great new way to milk a penalty.

It's getting a joke with so called shoulder chargers.
I watched the Canberra Manly game and how George got put on report for a shoulder charge in the Canberra in goal area is a joke. He just braced for a impact.
I bet before the finals JWH will get charged for a good tackle and cop 2 weeks for a shoulder charge, can't have the Roosters in the grand final.
SBW would be lucky to play 3 games a season if he was still in the NRL, Greenturd and Smith are going to ruin this game.
