Thats good for those 3 Roosters boys. But as an aside, Demetriou could have been with the Roosters and I have been told by several people he is an absolute destroying machine. Single handedly tore apart Ron Massey teams last year as an 18/19 year old

Mini, Slater, Stewart. Retired or with 1-2 years to go.

Tomkins? An NRL failure going back to England with his tail between his legs.

Boyd, Dugan, Tedesco? About 12 classes below Inglis and Hayne, and mutliple classes below RTS.

The best young talent in the NRL are coming for the most part from the polynesian ranks, and the aussie media doesn't like it. Thats why Shaun Johnson's talent is constantly questioned with calls about his "consistency", while complete duds like Luke Brooks are praised as future origin stars in the making despite being one of the worst halves in the comp through any stat you care to measure. Its also why guys like Moylan get roughly 100 times more press than RTS, despite one being the clear difference in skill, class, and performance between the 2 of them. Its why David ****ing Klemmer gets elevated to god status for being aggressive as a forward while JWH is crucified and suspended for 4 weeks anytime he breathes close to a players face.

The general NRL media, especially channel 9, are immensely biased towards australian players, and particularly white ones that show some talent. Its the standard great white hope stuff.

They are australians. Why would australians hate on them? Its mainly the poly kids who cop it from the channel 9 racists.

Case in point. During a recent Tigers game Ray Warren was discussing Martin Taupau, and said something along the lines of:

"We've actually been informed by Marty that the correct pronunciation of his name is Ta-oo-pa-oo. We are going to stick with TAPOW though".

Then there is his claim that he can't tell the Sharks back 3 apart because "they all look the same". Said on live television, with no one even batting an eyelid.

You then have team-based racism with the constant "jungle-ball" type comments about the Warriors tossing the loaf of bread around, despite the fact they don't play any more off the cuff than the Raiders, Tigers, Eels or any number of other sides. Or talk that the best strategy against the Warriors is to "tired out their big boppers", despite the fact their forward pack is dwarfed by several teams and they actually have several 80 minute players making up their pack.

The ingrained bias against non-australian players, mixed with the lording of any new aussie talent is there for all to see every week. That bias then gets ratcheted up to 11 if that new aussie talent also happens to be white AND eligible for NSW.

Ray Warren is one person and a senile fool.

How is saying the Warriors play 'jungle ball' racist? That's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. They stereotypically play adlib footy so it gets noticed more and they do it better then most teams so it stands out. Case in point, Lolohea's try from the Friend backflip.

I think you're confusing bias for racism, if you go over to NZ you'll get the same reaction for SJ as you would Thurston here.

Thanks for getting the thread back on topic Geohood. I enjoyed watching that clip. He looks a skillful young player, Latrell. Based on what I have seen of him, I agree with those that say he has a way to go before he is first grade standard but I think he can make it. It's exciting to watch these young players come through. It's a good time to be an Easts supporter! We have so much to look forward to this year and in the future.

Its racist because the same thing was never said about the 2005 Tigers, or the 2009 Eels, or the 2010 Roosters. All tremendous adlib sides who had trademark off the cuff attacking brilliance. But the 2011 Warriors? Straight to the jungle ball references.

Jungle ball as a term in general is racist. It was coined to describe the adlib style of black basketballers in the US, and it doesn't take much of a stretch to figure out why black basketballers' playing style got described as from the jungle.

I can give the benefit of the doubt and say it is just aussie bias, but its a fine line at times. The judiciary for example absolutely murders kiwis compared to aussie players (except Issac Luke. Playing for Souffs trumps being a kiwi in the eyes of the judiciary)

The Roosters were trailing the Bulldogs in the Holden Cup with only a couple minutes on the clock, then Latrell came up with a BIG play.
