The kid has talent but he is no superstar at the moment. He might have been impressive in sg ball, being the biggest kid there and taking control, being the standout etc. But now other kids are getting bigger as well and also playing well and he is not this kid anymore who stood out . He is now with some big older boys and mixing in with a lot of talented players. I don't see him as a fullback, has no explosive speed and not quick and athletic like Roger TS or Mini, but I see him playing centre or down the track could end up in the backrow

has to work very hard to earn the trust of the club again, needless to say one more incident and he is gone.

I'd prefer to give him a chance and not castigate him. He may be another "Jake Friend" and keep on the right track. I don't know what mentoring is given to players, especially the young ones, but I think I would have found it hard to be a full time footballer (apart from some mandatory tertiary course) at a young age. I didn't wise up until my mid 20's.

Elite backline players like Hayne, Inglis, etc were dominating first grade at 18. Same with any other elite backline player you care to mention of the past 20 years. They still had to play another 4-5 years before really hitting their straps of course but from their debut seasons as teenagers they were forces to be reckoned with.

The fact Mitchell is still ****ing around in an age restricted comp at his age already rules him out of the elite class. He could well turn out to be a very good player, but anyone expecting him to be our Inglis or Hayne are frankly setting the poor kid up for failure.

There is a long list of "next Inglis/SBW" 16 year olds who wind up barely seeing first grade. Ryan WIlliamson is the perfect example of a kid with an unbelievable highlight reel against children who was destroyed the moment he had to play against men.

Too right Danish, we are building them up for failure by making these comparisons prematurely, the media are even worse as they all ride their individual favourites home.

No wonder the number of these 20 year olds never make their next birthday.

Mitchell is hardly going to get a go in first grade this year. With 2 wingers and a FB who have all played for their country or state ahead of him, he can't be expected to play first grade this year.
Those of you questioning his ability just because he is yet to be selected in first grade (while other superstars were in first grade at his age) need to give him more time.

Ryan Williamson had the ability but just didn't want it. Not everybody wants to be a football player.

IMO Mitchell's stock has been artificially inflated this season by fans and POS alike once it RTS signed elsewhere. Suddenly a good young kid who we were going to develop over a few years became the next superstar and a better prospect than RTS ever was. The whole thing smacks of bitterness over Roger deciding to leave and Mitchell will suffer for it if/when he doesn't immediately perform to the impossible standard being set for him

Mitchell was being called the next Inglis long before RTS signed with the Warriors.

I actually saw some people say he'd turn out to be a better fullback then RTS, this was before RTS had a played FB yet though.

I thought it was a very embarrassing post. Billy Slater wasn't dominating first grade at 18 so by his logic, he was never an elite player.

Even the ones mentioned were a few months past their 18th birthday when they made their debut and they hardly "dominated".
