So they're putting the new stadium where the current car park is. So where will the cars park now ? I know in the plans there will be underground parking, but how big could that be ?
No doubt pushing the people into using the new light rail and justifying its cost.

Another white elephnat coming up, surely upgrading Allianz at a quarter the cost is a better alternate !

So where will the boys train now ?

when alliance was built it was planned to be a covered stadium but the govt at the time baulked at the price at last minute so it was shelved, surely since it was planned to be roofed it wouldn't cost the earth to roof it and keep it?

Contractual rights from little sister Homebush Stadium prevent this from happening atm. Once Homebush is no longer in operation these rights are out the window.
        An expensive way around it!

Yeah and the 'carpark' is actually a pretty cool park where I used to walk my dog as a kid and play footy with friends. As somebody with a connection to the area I'd hate to see it go.

Yes, the carpark (which 99% of the time is a recreational park for the public) will be gone ...and I suppose the new stadium will cover Kippax Lake. Meanwhile, the Swans area will remain untouched !

Could always play a few more games in Qld - always get a good crowd here. We're not all Broncos fans.
There's a reason why the young and idealistic become the old and cynical.
                It's called experience.

Now today [radio news] Souths and the Dogs are complaining about this new stadium being built in the East. They're reportedly seeking an urgent meeting with the Premier...wanting the money spent on ANZ and in the West, "the heartland of RL" or something.
ANZ Stadium...baaah...seating not steeped enough and is too far away..the seats we get as away fans there provide a very poor view... well as far as I'm concerned anyway. Might as well stay home and watch it on tv as go there.

I'm expecting a couple hundred mill to put a decent roof over the SFS and increase the capacicty by a few thousand and update its facilities. More money for the Parra Stadium upgrade, and if Manly are lucky
                    some money for Brookvale.

                      Could be.
Souths and the Dogs should be lobbying ANZ stadium owners to allow a roof over Allianz...and also lobbying for a roof over ANZ.
Anzac Day 2015 at Allianz stadium would've been just fine had there been a roof over it.

One of the favoured options Sports Minister Ayres was favouring was to increase both Penriff & Parra stadia capacities to 40,000 - to appease the greater and growing West.
Seems Dave Smith has gotten his wish for a 65,000 cap stadium at Moore Park. His grand plan is to have 6 NRL teams - Roosters, Vermin, St Merge, Manly, Tigpies & Sharks playing out of there.

Manly must be so pissed off if this eventuates. The Northern Peninsula continues to be neglected despite the PM & NSW Premier supporting Manly........go figure!

Good idea to share a stadium, works for the AFL. Costs would be reduced and stadium should be state of the art for all teams.

Well if Souffs don't wont it, then it wont be built.
Though have to laugh at their hypocrisy ...they say the govt shouldn't be spending money in the east, they should be spending it in the western suburbs ....but its ok for the govt to spend millions of dollars on their high performance wank wank Vermin football facility at Maroubra ..IN THE EAST ??

Further to the above, i'm guessing the proposed smaller 20,000 seating complex (on the current SFS) will become our training facility......Win/Win

Looks like Allianz is now not going to be demolished and a new stadium built on the parkland [always a crazy idea anyway IMO] across the road.
Apparently Turnbull was consulted and he spoke to people...or something.
'Traffic congestion' and 'not enough green space now ' other objections were allegedly raised.
$300m to be spent on Allianz
