  • Allianz Stadium to be demolished in 5 years time?

    http://au.fourfourtwo.com/forums/def...osts&m=2221014

With Sydney’s biggest stadium set to miss new funding, high-level negotiations are being finalised for ANZ’s operators to be paid $135 million over the next 15 years to hand over control to a new government-appointed super stadium trust.

Sport Minister Stuart Ayres is expected to receive a report this month recommending a new 65,000-seat venue be built near Moore Park’s outdated Allianz Stadium on land presently controlled by the Centennial Park and Moore Park Trust. It will also recommend the construction of a new 35,000- seat Parramatta Stadium, home to rugby league’s Parramatta Eels and soccer’s Western Sydney Wanderers.

The controversial plan will require Premier Mike Baird’s support to double the $600 million stadium fund he promoted at the March election.

Highly placed sources told The Daily Telegraph Mr Ayres believes the government will need to allocate about $800 million to build the new Moore Park stadium and $400 million for Parramatta Stadium.

Former Liberal leader John Brogden, who is writing the report for Mr Ayres, has also revealed to the Centennial Park and Moore Park Trust that a smaller multi-sports venue — believed to be worth about $100 million — would be built when Allianz is demolished in about five years.

Probably swap between The SCG, ANZ and Gosford.

We could take a couple games to Perth/Adelaide or somewhere, maybe even a game or two at Henson.

Who knows this may be the catalyst for a move to Bluetounge, Just kidding. There's always the showground stadium until the new one is rebuilt.

Lots of different paper talk about the stadiums at the moment. Roosters played at Henson Park when they were building the SFS, but with all the corporate seating that might not be up to the task. They would probably prefer the SCG.

The article states that they would be building a new 65,000 seat stadium at Moore park and replacing Allianz with a smaller stadium.

So wouldn't it be obvious that we would play out of those 2 stadiums?

You'd hope so...but why don't they build a new Stadium at Moore Park first, let us play out of that [not Souths and the Tigers], before they demolish Allianz?

When they tear the SFS down, I'm going to see if I can buy one of the video screens they just installed there. Would look great in the living room.

Alliance doesn't need demolishing, it just needs some tweaking, and a roof. These days and the growing cost of going to the game, unless you are playing a good side in form. we struggle to get over 15000 people there. Its a disgrace that Sydney does not have one NRL ground that is weather proof. no wonder Melbourne laugh at us, and you cant blame them.

Could be what the NRL bosses etc want...and they're not kidding?
Move us out, and move Souths and the Tigers in?
Pack us off to Gosford, to oblivion like those who went there in the past, would make all the Roosters-haters very delighted?

                      Amen to that.
You watch, Souths and the Tigers will get the big new stadium, while we get the round all purpose 'trotting track'/'athletics track'/ 'even worse view than at the SCG' ground to play on...or get shunted out to ANZ

Rabbits had 7000 to one of their home games at ANZ last season [or the season before]...and not many more than that to some other of their games.

I believe the plan is to leave the alterations to SFS until 2020 when the new Stadium would be finished.
