It is such a rate skill in NRL players these days but those who have it rarely don't make it.

I seriously hope we lock this kid up because he's the first half I've genuinely been excited about coming through our ranks since Pearcey
    i agree with you R6.
Hastings has vision and a great ability to read the game,a great asset to have for a 6 and 7.
He needs to be our no.6 starting next year, smart player!

I rate Hastings but I just can't see him wanting to play reserve grade for the next two seasons. The club needs to decide whether they want to keep him because if they do they need to put him on the bench for the rest of the season. I'd much rather have him on the bench then a B grade forward like manu or setu. The problem though is that we fall to shit whenever jwh or friend come from the field.

Unfortunately or fortunatley . depending on your pov, its not about what Hastings wants to do. The U20s comp is no preparation for first grade.
I watched the U20s last week and really he played ok but was def no standout.

Maloney and Hastings pairing for 2016 could work however i can't see it happening.

Hastings temperament will help him go along way in the future.

His confidence, composure, organising/leadership skills are all desirable traits.

What are your thoughts on his temperament, KB?

Dominating the 20s means absolutely nothing either. The 20s is not a form guide regardless of how a player is going. We've seen that time and again.

Hastings will be a regular first grader. I'd rather him playing for us than anyone else. I'm not saying he should usurp Pearce or maloney but he should be on the bench to give us some creativity when the forwards are tired. As I said, Hastings would offer more coming off the bench then manu and setu. Things could be different if we had Meehan and Kennedy and Guerra the last few weeks but we don't so unless there's something happening behind the scenes then I don't know why he isn't on the bench.

He let no one down debuting out of position in first grade finals last year.

I hardly think he is dominating NYC. We are in trouble if we are banking on him.

The fact that we are re-signing Maloney is a good indication of his progression.

I've seen this Lussick kid play twice and he has already gone past Hastings as a potential first grader.

                      Neither of our halves do.

SBW has been our only player since Carney who had the vision to create something out of nothing.

It'll be interesting to see how Hastings goes at fullback today for the Aussies, I've suggested before he could potentially be the best option for the next couple of years until Maloney retires and Latrell Mitchell is ready.

Pathetic attempt at catching a bomb by Hastings, never looked like catching it! I heard a whisper months ago that our club was considering having Hastings as our fullback for next year. After witnessing that, I certainly hope that that whisper was totally off the mark!!

Hastings looking impressive in a 5/8th type role in attack! I would love to see our club get Robert Jennings, good try just scored by him!

Hastings workrate is incredible, consistently touching the ball 2-3+ times a set, consistently on both sides of the ruck and sniffing around the play the ball. His distribution has been great so far, just need to get him a couple passes wider of the ruck so we can see some of his creativity.

Only low light so far was a dropped bomb but in his defence he's been playing in the halves for the past 2 seasons, this is his first game at fullback in a long time and he's taken the other six bombs that have come his way.

Will become a big weapon for the Aussies as this game drags on.
