I think there's a few options that the club could go with but I don't think any of those should involve bringing on another player who needs to be developed and educated.

My first preference would be to give Billy Slater his last contract and let Mitchell shadow him but obviously that depends on how much money we have. My second preference would be to start playing Jackson Hastings at fullback in preparation for next year, obviously his best position is in the halves but he wouldn't be the first half who came into grade through the fullback position. I think it'd be a great introduction to grade for him and he's played quite a bit of the position in his junior days, at least by 2016 Hastings will have been in our system for 2 years which makes him well advanced of any other external options.

    Jimmy - 2 year contract for 2016 & '17
    Jacko - 2 years at fullback for Hastings in 2016 & '17, move to 5/8 in 2018
Latrell - 2 years in the 20's in 2015 &'16. 1 year in grade at centre or wing in 2017, move to fullback in 2018
Are there rumours that Slater may be linked the Roosters?

How can we afford the Australian FB when our max offer for RTS was $525k a year?

Yeah I think Slater (haven't even heard that rumour) is getting a bit silly.

      1) I thought the Storm had already wrapped him up.
      2) On the open market he'll be a $1 million+ player, especially if it's his last contract.
      3) He could even be a bit injury prone now?

That said... I've got a man love for the guy (despite him playing for all the wrong teams.) Best true FB in the game I reckon (Inglis can play anywhere.) It it were my money and I had $800k to spend then obviously it would go on Slater rather than RTS. But... nobody's making that decision and we don't have the money.

I honestly see him as a half or 5/8th. Not sure he can handle being a fg fb fulltime for 2 years. TBH I'd even prefer to see nene get the gig for a couple of years or Fergo.

I think we will see Latrell much more earlier than 2017. Especially given all the hype around him
        Comment of the year:

Andrew Johns, Semi-Final vs North Queensland ,

"It's touched Lui's hand and travelled forward but that's not a knock on"

Slater will sign a 3 year extension with the Storm and move to 5/8th at some stage imo.

If DCE reneges on his agreement with the Titans (and it's not too late), they should throw that $1.2 million a year at Slater.
