I used to watch most games over the weekend. This year I have watched our games and the highlights or scores are enough for the other games. I watch a lot more AFL now.
I will always love the Roosters but the NRL has lost me.
They know if they don't control us then we win most games. That is not good for business. Keep the games close, keep the comp close and make sure it goes in cycles to prove the cap is working.
That is bordering on game fixing. But it is all about what's best for business.

I share the sentiments of those who have posted above but the likes of BC will start caring when it comes to membership renewals and falling gates.. The rusted on fans will renew however the less so may not.. When it hits the bottom line he will be under the pump. The club has to be pro-active before it comes to that, otherwise jobs could be lost as a result....

I remember reading a comment from an NRL official a few months back who was gloating over what a success the 2014 season was, citing the number of games decided by six points or less. There have been many games this season where a team has completely dominated the opposition in the first half but only enjoyed a narrow lead at the break.

They want rival fans to know that no team is over the salary cap and that they have a 50/50 chance of winning the game and making the finals so they should tune in and also spend their coin.
Let's stick the 9 million dollar roster(Kent, Crawley, Rothfield articles) mid table so that they know our salary cap system is working.
Let's assist the clubs that we've lent money too and those who'd otherwise lose 80% of the games get off to a positive start so that their fans maintain interest.
Let's have close games so that the broadcasters reap the rewards of their investments.
This is what happens when you employ a banker who's focus is delivering a surplus.

I think you are wrong there.
The club wants supporters who will pay memberships, attend games, buy merchandise, market their brand, show loyalty etc etc.
The potential or existing supporter should expect their team is competing on an even playing field against their opponents.
If this isn't the case..as in ours...the club needs to show the supporter they will not just accept this.
Simple.

Don't get me wrong I understand the stats and agree its farked but all along I have maintained the club speaking publically wont solve the problem, if anything it will make it worse.
Fans are allowed to get up the suits and reffs etc. Its expected. But the club doesn't need anymore heat. Surely being at loggerheads with the governing body is bad for business, sponsorship etc.
This problem goes back to SL. We stood against NewsRL and ever since have been hammered every chance possible.
Its folklaw now we are over the cap, give away penalties on purpose, full of grubs, Politis has too much power, poachers etcetcetc.
Its a mentality. Its part of the burden we carry being Easts.
The reffs IMO aren't even conscious of what they do. And that is natural, they are only human, they hear all the clichés in the media and hear all the bullshit rumours etc.
I am of the belief the club are fully aware of the stats. But I also believe they cant do much publically.
We don't know what goes on behind closed doors. And really neither should we.
Im not knocking your thread. I just am trying to understand where the club may be at with such issues.
IMO despite all the noise being made now NOTHING will change. This will last a week or two then there will be a new drama. That's RL.
We just need to do a QLD/womanly. Backs against the wall. Fark everyone else. Us against the world. Fight back. Stick tight.
Just Win Baby.
Go Easts.
The FlogPen .
You know it makes sense.

We are all frustrated and pissed off but none of us would stop supporting our team because of it.
It's not so much about not supporting the team because of it, it's more a case of just walking away from the game altogether. It's just not a level playing field, anymore, and as a supporter, that's hard to take.
